PGA Tour and European Tour pro Bernhard Langer, is preparing for the Senior Open scheduled this week at the Royal Porthcawl Golf Course. While speaking about the upcoming event, Langer was asked about his views on the cheating incident.
Replying to the question he said, “It’s obviously very disappointing when anybody cheats because the game of golf was built and founded on honesty and integrity and that’s what we try to teach our younger generations, and that’s what we all try to be, role models for that and uphold the rules.”
However, being a golfer himself, Langer also explained that many other players live on these paychecks only and have to fulfill the duties of their household and in such a scenario the prize money could be very tempting. “But there’s tremendous stress out there, a lot of pressure. Some of these people, they have family, they have young kids and they live from this paycheck to the next one, so it can be very tempting.” But, he thinks that changing the scorecard is foolish and ridiculous.
Justin Doeden’s misconduct at the Ottawa Open
Last week at the Ottawa Open, Justin Doeden was accused of changing his scorecard from a double-bogey 7 to par 5 after the card was already signed by his playing partner. After his fellow players notified the authority members, an investigation was conducted.

But Justin withdrew from the tournament while the investigation was going on. Doeden’s original score puts him out of the Top 60th. But his influenced scores put him one shot inside the cut line and made him tied for the 60th spot.
Because of this, the other 13 players who tied for the 61st spot would have to miss the event and the prize money. On Monday, Doeden made his confession on Twitter calling it the biggest mistake of his life.
