Cameron Smith pulled off a Clint Eastwood at Miami. Andre Agassi, to be specific, but Ripper GC thought it best to offer a Spaghetti Western vibe to Smith’s floating locks. Two days after a shocking April Fool’s prank, Smith’s LIV Golf team, Ripper GC, offered more clarification.

The locks are good and healthy. And bouncy too. His LIV teammate, Brooks Koepka, was growing a mullet not too long ago. But the Smash GC captain shaved it before traveling to Rome. Cam Smith, though, has stuck to his guns and looks exceedingly proud.

Business as usual in the front, party in the back

Ripper GC posted a clip on their official Instagram handle. Cameron Smith very much rocks in his signature mullet. In the video, a swaggering Smith posed for his team, brandishing his signature style, which might turn into a Kentucky waterfall soon. Ripper GC captioned the clip with “MULLET UPDATE: A trim on top and still a party at the back and Cam is good to go!

Mullet, apparently, dates back to ancient Greece, according to some accounts. Now that’s up for debate, and a rabbit hole is better avoided. For this writer, though, Mullet brings to mind David Bowie, Andre Agassi, and even, with some stretch, Mel Gibson. But Clint Eastwood’s connection is something we never saw coming. Yet, quite fittingly, Ripper GC blended Ennio Morricone’s immortal theme from ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly’ with Cam Smith’s flowing locks.

Ripper GC told their fans only on April 1 that Smith had shaved off his mullet. It caused quite a stir. And fans feel very relieved to see that the Ripper GC Captain will take his mullet to the Augusta National as well.

Cam Smith will tee up at LIV Golf Miami on April 5, the last event before the Masters. The former Open Champion has three top-five finishes in the Masters but has yet to don the Green Jacket. One fan commented, “The mullet will go well with a green jacket.” Smith tied for the 34th spot on the Augusta leaderboard last year. Smith has two top-10s this season on the PIF-funded side.

However, Masters wasn’t on everyone’s mind. Rather, most fans simply admired that the mullet worked well for the Brisbane native. “Mullet flowing in the wind, majestic,” wrote one of them. While another user thought Smith was “definitely a gun,” he rocked the mullet. It was with his hairstyle that Cam Smith set a Kapalua Plantation Course record by shooting 34 under through four rounds. He even rocked this mullet, which his parents and girlfriend didn’t like a few years ago, at his wedding two months ago. One fan, however, regardless of his hair, simply tipped his hat to the Australian golfer, commenting, “Man’s elite.”

Smith’s employer was impressed, too. LIV Golf League commented from their official handle, “Still flowing,” a reference to Ripper GC’s April’s Fool prank. Apparently, Smith got bored of the flowing locks and wanted to chop them off. However, that’s clearly not the case, as this recent post shows.
