Smith, who won the 2022 Open Championship at the St.Andrews Old Course, has finally put an end to all speculations by confirming his LIV Golf move. 

29-year-old Smith turned pro in 2013 and has earned eight professional victories till now. His triumph at the 2022 Open was arguably the most important one of his career; a moment that elevated his status as an accomplished golfer.

Cameron Smith to leave PGA Tour for LIV Golf 

Cameron Smith has been all over the news ever since his win at St.Andrews. On one hand, while the golf community was celebrating his achievement, he was also berated for sudden LIV Golf rumors. Smith has been linked to the lucrative new tour for quite a while, but now the rumors have proven to be true.

As per reports, Smith has now agreed to join LIV Golf, and play alongside names like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and so on. This is indeed a massive career direction for Smith as he was beloved by PGA Tour fans. It is unsure how this move will go down in the golf community.

LIV Golf has been successful in landing big names one after the other. With such recruitment comes humongous amounts of money. While Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau were reported to have received $200M and $125M respectively, another report indicated that the 29-year-old Aussie was handed a contract of $100M.

LIV Golf is here to stay. Greg Norman is forcing the PGA Tour to make massive changes to keep the ship running. Norman has landed Smith, one of the biggest names to dominate golf in 2022. Furthermore, the lucrative tour has landed five more valuable names, and all of them are confirmed to be a part of this week’s event in Boston.
