Cameron Smith was not a big name in the golf world until he bagged a win at the 2020 Sony Open. However, after the season, he started appearing in the headlines, and his performance has been immaculate ever since. He also secured the 17th spot on Forbes’ list of The World’s Highest-Paid Athletes (2023) with earnings totaling $73 million. According to Forbes, $67 million of this came from salary and on-field winnings, while approximately $6 million was earned through off-field sponsorships.
This year, Cameron Smith’s team the Ripper GC clinched the trophy in Dallas at the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship. He is estimated to have earned a whopping, $11,565,417 from this season alone. At the Team Championship, their team won $14 million in prize money, which was distributed among the four members and their caddies. Smith got a share of $3.5 million, finishing at T5. Additionally, the Australian professional enjoyed seven top-10 finishes this year. A T8 at Mayakoba bagged him $457,700, and a T2 at the LIV Golf Hong Kong got him to take home a staggering $1.875 million. Well, that was not all for his runner-up finishes. At Singapore, he took home $396,875 for finishing T9.

Going forward, the LIV golfer sealed a T6 in LIV Golf Andalucia and T2 in LIV Golf UK, earning $608,333 and $158,334, respectively. He had a T8 finish at the LIV Golf Greenbrier and banked $457,500. Apart from all these wins, he has also earned a significant amount of money from five other LIV Golf events where he could not finish in the top 10 of the leaderboard. However, his total prize money for this year was also reduced because of his absence from LIV Golf Miami. Smith had to withdraw from the championship because of food poisoning.
At LIV Golf Las Vegas, he finished at T15, which gave him $267,500. While at LIV Golf Jeddah, he finished at T41, and with a T14 at Adelaide. These made him earn $129,375, and $275,000 respectively. Well, in the last few months, he played at the LIV Golf Houston, where he finished at T48, and earned $90,000, and before the Team Championship, he got $50,000 from LIV Golf Chicago after finishing at T52.
There is no doubt that LIV Golf has made Cameron Smith richer than ever. As mentioned, he was among the players who took the highest amount of money to move to the league. But the question is did he earn more by playing in the PGA Tour over the years?

Cameron Smith’s last event on the PGA Tour was the Open Championship in 2022, July. His journey did indeed have an exceptional ending as he bagged a win at the Royal Troon, taking home a whopping $2.5 million. In his last year, he earned a total of $9,189,629. The other significant prize money came with two other wins in the same season, first at the Sentry, where he took home $1,476,000, and another at the PLAYERS Championship, where he bagged $3,600,000. He had only one other Top 10 finish at the Genesis Scottish Open, which earned him $1,57,800.

Additionally, his T33 finish at the Genesis Invitational, T21 finish at the Zurich Classic, T12 at the PGA Championship, T13 at the Memorial Tournament, and T48 at the RBC Canadian Open earned him a total of $5,85,829. Having played on the PGA Tour for almost a decade, he has earned a whopping $29,505,309, which constitutes a lot of portion of his $47 million net worth.
