One of the biggest names to participate at the ongoing US Open is Phil Mickelson. The recent $3 billion merger of PGA and LIV has made Mickelson the talk of the town with wild speculations and theories doing the rounds regarding his future. But the LIV loyalist is maintaining a mysterious silence.

With his unexpected move to LIV Golf, Mickelson has earned the disapproval of fans who are not wasting any chance to roast him. Fans felt betrayed when Mickelson sided with the Saudi-backed league, and not long after he openly criticized them over a lot of things. Since then fans have made sure that they express their resentment toward Mickelson whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Phil Mickelson arrived late at US Open to avoid the media

Surprisingly, Michelson didn?t grace the Lost Angeles Country Club (LACC) North Course leading up to the tournament. He was nowhere to be seen on Monday as well as Tuesday for practice. There could be no explanation other than that he was trying to avoid the media which was ready to shower him with uncomfortable?questions regarding the merger. It was only on Wednesday that Mickelson finally made an appearance.

But when Mickelson busied himself with practising for the big event, fans found another way to troll the lefty. At the course, he wore a pair of Nike shoes and half pants, and his famous and admirable calves were visible. And fans went after him for that. Zire Golf on Instagram shared an update where Mickelson is wearing custom Air Jordan*Travis Scott golf shoes. The caption read: “Phil wearing custom Air Jordan x Travis Scott golf shoes in his practice round today. Fire [emoji used instead] or nah?”

The caption straight away asked people if the look was good or not, and fans spoke their minds without any restraints.

Fans criticize Mickelson’s calves, call them weak

Fans made sure that they registered their disapproval of Mickelson?s shoes and his calves.

One fan wrote, ?Why does Phil always try so hard.?

His calves were attacked by this fan who said: ?Calves looked better when he was playing 72 a week.?

And this one too: ?Bank account is up, but damn those calves have gone down.?

One word was enough for this guy to register his displeasure: ?Nah?

One wrote: ?Calves are looking weak sauce.?

Another wrote: ?The calves aren?t what they used to be.?

This guy liked the shoes but not Mickelson: ?I mean, yeah these are absolute heat, just not on Phil??

One fan swam against the tide and showed his support for the golfer: ?Those calves are unbeatable.?

Well, a large part of fans sure are angry with Mickelson. Meanwhile, dodging the media bullets about the merger Mickelson told Golf.com early morning of Wednesday. ?I?ll be happy to talk later. I just don?t want to waste any energy on it at the beginning of the week,? he said.?

Eagerly awaiting his response on the merger, fans and the media for now will have to content themselves with his performance at the US Open.
