In 2022, when Leona Maguire won the LPGA Drive-On Championship, she became the first Irish woman to do so. And this year, in June, Maguire achieved her second victory on the LPGA Tour when she won the Meijer LPGA Classic. She reached a career-high of 10th in the world rankings after finishing 11th at the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship, making history as the first Irish woman to enter the top ten.
And the cherry on top is that she is part of the Solheim Cup squad now. As expectations grow higher and higher ahead of the hallowed event, Maguire, who is representing Team Europe, is reaching the tournament destination in style.

With four wins and a tie, Maguire made an incredible start to her 2021 Solheim Cup campaign, eventually helping her side triumph. She helped defeat the American squad and returned a victor, and this week she will attempt to repeat her bravery in Andalucia.
Recently, ahead of the all-important event, she also became part of the Books for Birdies initiative. To sum up the initiative, for every birdie that has been notched up by the 2X LPGA Tour winner since the month of June, KPMG has donated one children’s book to twenty local schools in the Limerick and Clare area.
After becoming the local hero, it’s time to become the country hero. But for that, she has to reach the destination. And to reach Spain, the EU gave Maguire special treatment. The Irish golfer posted her journey on Instagram with the caption: ”Solheim Cup here we come ✈️🇪🇺. Thanks @bmwireland and Platinum services for sending us off on our journey to Malaga in style.”
