The women’s side of the game seems to be in a complex state. In a matter of a few hours, amateur Anna Davis had to bear a one-stroke penalty for slow play, and LPGA headliner Charley Hull was fraught with a bizarre injury! Things somewhat do not appear to be be going as per the 28-year-old’s plan for some time now. From being diagnosed with ADHD to working extra hard in the gym and eventually getting injured during a round of paddle, this fitness freak seems to have a lot on her plate.
Yes, you read that right. Hull has recently revealed in her Instagram story that she was injured while playing paddle on Thursday. She posted a picture of her hurt self wherein she was seen comforting herself with some cold peas. She wrote, “played paddle yesterday and somehow managed to wack myself round the face and bust my nose and give myself a concussion.” The pressure would have been so much that she thought she had broken her nose! Thankfully for the English professional golfer, it was only bruised.
One could say that the LPGA star has been doing better, as compared to how she was doing last weekend. She teed up at the Ford Championship Presented by KCC but abruptly withdrew after the first round stating undisclosed illness. Illness and injury update comes only weeks before the LPGA Tour’s first major of the season, the Chevron Championship. Thanks to Hull’s status as an LPGA winner in the last three years, she is going to be in the event’s field. But will her new injuries curb her chances this year?

It is highly unlikely that this would happen, considering that there is still time for the championship to kick off and Hull has only bruised her nose. Therefore, she is still expected to show her skills at the $5.2 million event. Who will Hull play against in the highly-coveted event to break her curse of finishing second at major events?

Who are some prominent names partaking in the Chevron Championship?
The current world no. 2, Lilia Vu, and no. 6, Jin Young Ko, are both past Chevron Championship winners, having won in 2023 and 2019, respectively. This has granted them a seat in the 2024 edition of the event and embellished the glorious roster with their names. Further, world no. 3 Celine Boutier and world no. 4 Ruoning Yin will also be present at the Club at Carlton Woods for the event, all thanks to their major championship wins in the past 5 years.
While Boutier won the 2023 Evian Championship, her win at the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship solidified her seat. Additionally, Danielle Kang will also make for a famous face on the roster in the week following the Masters because of her securing an LPGA win in the last three years. Nelly Korda will also be coming in hot, riding high on her three consecutive wins, and will be giving Hull strong competition.
