Tiger Woods is known for many things: his golfing prowess, his comeback from injuries, and his iconic red shirt. But there is onе thing that only a few people know about him: Mac Daddy Santa. Every year, the 47-year-old transforms himself into a jolly, shirtless, and sunglasses-wearing version of Santa Claus, complete with a dyed goatee and a white wig.
Mr.T does it for the sake of his two children, Sam and Charliе Woods, who love seeing their dad do something “crazy” for Christmas. Even by the World Golf Hall of Famer’s lofty standards.

It’s been nearly a decade since Tiger’s Mac Daddy persona came to the fore. Since then, he has consistently put it on for his children, even with unexpectedly dire consequences. In fact, in 2017, Woods revealed that last year (2016) his festive tradition almost cost him his face. In a video interview with the PGA Tour, Woods explained how he tried to dye his goatee white but ended up burning his skin with the chemicals.
While talking about the unfortunate incident the 15x major winner said, “Last year I burned my face off trying to dye my goatee, which is never going to happen again.” Despite the painful mishap, Woods said he would continue to dress up as Mac Daddy Santa for his kids, who are now 14 and 12 years old. The 82x PGA Tour winner further shared the ‘ridiculous’ reaction of his children, Sam and Charlie.
“Kids absolutely love it. They love when I do something crazy,” Tiger explained. And just like that, Mac Daddy became the tradition of the Woods family. In his words, “It provides something that our family does each and every year, even as they get older, I’m still going to do it. And they’re still going to say it’s me or ‘Dad, you look ridiculous,’ or anything like that. But it’s something they’re always going to remember for the rest of their lives,” the doting father of 2 shared.

Tiger Woods also shared a photo of himself as Mac Daddy Santa on Twitter in 2016, which went viral and sparked a lot of reactions from fans. He has not posted another one since, but he did make a cameo as the character in a TaylorMade Golf ad in 2023.
