With under two weeks left until the year’s first major championship, The Masters is all golf fans can talk about. From the ever-competitive field to the traditional Champions dinner, the event has captured the attention of every golf enthusiast around the world. And with both PGA Tour elites and LIV Golf defectors joining the battle at the Augusta National Golf Club, the coverage will undoubtedly be full of drama and excitement.
Amid the promises of a drama-filled event, CBS, one of the main broadcasting networks covering the event, even made a vow about the players who jumped ship, leaving the fans in disbelief.
CBS’ vow about LIV golf players at the Masters

18 LIV Golf players take the field at the prestigious Masters next month alongside the best of the best PGA Tour stars. And while fans eagerly await the event, one somber question haunts their minds: Will the coverage be fair? Well, with the hate that the breakaway Tour has received the past year, it is certainly not a far-fetched presumption that the coverage will be biased.
But CBS addressed this daunting question during the network’s annual pre-Masters conference call on Sunday. As per Golfweek, CBS Sports’ Chairman Sean McManus claimed that the coverage would, of course, be unbiased and balanced. “We’re not going to show any different treatment for the golfers who have played on the LIV Tour than the other golfer,” he stated.

The chairman claimed that the broadcast would do everything in its power to uphold the prestige of the event and would not belittle it with biased coverage. “The Masters Tournament and Augusta National is bigger than any player that has come before,” he said. “What we’re focused on is giving that tournament justice and crowning a great champion.”
CBS’ claims fail to convince the golf world
The golf world, of course, didn’t believe a word the chairman claimed. Taking to Twitter, they flooded the comments section of NUCLR Golf’s post with the news, calling out the network with “bulls***” claims.
I call bullshit.

Yeah, sure. Not buyin’ what they’re selling.

Fans even claimed that they would only believe the broadcasting giant when they witness its unbiased broadcasting with their own eyes. They were convinced that their announcement was nothing more than just empty words.
Great opportunity to go to the john

I’ll believe it when I see it.

One fan, however, seemed to take the news as the truth and hoped that it would be true.
Great to see 💪🏼 hopefully it's true

The PGA Tour loyalists in the crowd even went so far as to claim that CBS’ coverage of the defectors wouldn’t matter because none of them would make it too far in the tournament. This may have been a dig at LIV Golf as that tour sees golfers compete across 54 holes rather than the PGA’s 72-hole format.
Most LIV golfers won’t make the cut anyway

Considering only 1 or 2 max might be in contention, I would say its a non issue
