Now, “Super Scottie” as Bradford Wilson said recently, Scheffler has gone from staying winless to a 13x PGA Tour champion! He won 2 Masters Tournaments, became the first player to win back-to-back The Players Championship, and secured his spot as the best golfer in the world. Scottie Scheffler turned his career around with one simple change.

No, Mr. Inevitable didn’t get a new driver or putter. He didn’t even change his approach to striking the ball himself. Scheffler’s game transformed under one man—his veteran caddie. After 15 years with Bubba Watson, he took on the world No. 1, and together, they put in the work to make Scheffler super. In the fourth episode of the third season of Full Swing, fans get to learn how Scott did this. Influencer Bradford Wilson kicked off the segment with “In the whole sport, you’re not going to find a more solid relationship than Scottie Scheffler and Ted Scott.”

As Wilson explained their dynamic, the scene cut to the world No. 1 asking his caddie for shot advice on the course. He continued: “People might not realize just how important that relationship has been for Scottie’s success,” highlighting Scheffler’s drive. “Four years ago, Scottie Scheffler wasn’t the ‘Super Scottie’ as we see him today,” he added as the video shows the PGA Tour pro missing multiple putts. Newer golf fans might have seen a display of that at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open where the drama slayer was involved in a lot of drama.

“My mechanics were a bit off. At times, I think I was just ingraining the wrong stuff into my putting,” confessed Scheffler. He admitted struggling with anger due to his passion for golf. The documentary then clipped Ted Scott’s success, including two Masters wins with Bubba Watson, as noted by broadcaster Henni Zuël. Scott explained, “We weren’t really growing together anymore” after 15 years with Watson. Seeking new opportunities, a friend introduced him to Scottie Scheffler. “I saw that he was kind of feisty,” the caddie reflected on his past experience. But, a few anger issues of the 2x Masters winner were surfacing.

When Scott did eventually talk to Scheffler, he said “I don’t know if I wanna work for you, ’cause of your attitude.” All the pro golfer replied was “That’s a fair question. And that’s something I’m willing to work on.” Scott confirmed that’s all he needed to hear to have a little bit of hope to support Scheffler. “So I decided to take the job and here we are,” said the caddie. That’s not even counting the unofficial events and gold medals at the Olympics.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Ted Scott the real MVP in Scottie Scheffler's journey to becoming world No. 1?

Have an interesting take?

But was that the case for Bubba Watson as well? Watson has accomplished a lot in his illustrious career. From 2010 to 2018, he won 12 PGA Tour titles, including to Masters Tournament. His most notable victory certainly came during his visit to the Augusta Nationals in 2012. The tournament went into playoffs after the 72 holes before Bubba Watson defeated fellow LIV Golf pro, Louis Oosthuizen to win his first green jacket.

For anyone who followed the timeline, yes Ted Scott was beside the RangeGoats GC captain throughout his 12 wins. It seems that Scott is the reason both Scheffler and Watson have won anything in the PGA Tour. And if the caddy’s partnership with Mr. Inevitable continues, then they will win many more titles together in the next few years.
