Nelly Korda under pressure—Can she handle the stress of the LIV Golf Individual Championship?

Bubba Watson has been struggling to find form in LIV Golf. As a captain, he is exempt from relegation, but how long can he struggle and let his team down? In these difficult times for the two-time Masters champion, where he has nothing really to play for, his mind has turned to supporting his nation’s team at the Solheim Cup.

The Florida native posted pictures on Instagram of his time as a helper for Team USA in 2021 and captioned them, “Take me back to ‘21… wish I could be at @thesolheimcup to cheer on all these talented ladies! ‘Helper’ may have been my best job title yet 😆.” He went on to say, “Best of luck to the U.S. Team,” and mentioned every member of the Team USA squad.

As the Solheim Cup returns this weekend, the golfing world has been looking forward to seeing the best in the women’s game battle it out for bragging rights. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, No. 2 Lilia Vu, and Charley Hull will be just a few of the stars lighting up the golfing world this weekend.

As much as he would like to be there, and as much as everyone wants him to be at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, he is tied up with the LIV Golf individual championship decider at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago. Being a long-term Ping-sponsored athlete, Bubba Watson has developed quite a good relationship with the founders, the Solheim family, and talked to them about coming to the marquee event. He contacted then-captain Pat Hurst a month before the tournament and asked how he could help.

Out on the course, he was doling out advice and filling divots. Online, he was hyping up the tournament to his thousands of followers. He also played a big role in the media activities and brought attention and support to the women’s game.

We can see from the pictures just how much fun Watson was having supporting Team USA. Reportedly, he even missed his wedding anniversary and his son’s football game to attend the event. Players also seemed quite appreciative of Watson’s help at the tournament.
