Bryson DeChambeau left hanging by a sponsor before the Open
The one-time major championship winner has a long-term contract with the famous golf ball manufacturer, Bridgestone. However, on Tuesday, two days before the start of the first round at the home of golf, Bridgestone ended its ties with the LIV Golf rebel. As a result, he might continue to play with the same golf ball, but it won’t be under a contract. Not to forget, Bridgestone has contracts with famous golf professionals like?Tiger Woods, who will also be playing at the 150 Open Championship.
The prime reason for ending ties with?Bryson DeChambeau?is because he shifted to the Saudi-backed golf league. Moreover, in a statement with Golf.com, Bridgestone spoke about the same. They said, “The PGA Tour is an extremely important part of professional golf, and Bridgestone has a sports marketing relationship with this highly visible series of tournaments.”
They added, “In considering that Bryson DeChambeau will no longer be participating in these events, Bridgestone and Bryson have agreed to end their brand ambassador partnership.”?The American professional entered into a contract with Bridgestone in 2016, and he played a crucial role in developing the Bridgestone Tour B golf balls when he signed a long-term extension of the contract with the manufacturer in 2020.?
Moreover, this bold move may start other sponsors dropping contracts with players who have shifted to the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Not to forget,?in June, Rocket Mortgage, too, ended ties with the big-hitting professional.
