Despite bagging a $125 million contract, Bryson DeChambeau has undergone a series of setbacks since his move to LIV Golf. Along with receiving massive backlash from the golf world, the ‘mad scientist’ has also been suspended from playing in any PGA Tour events. With such downfalls in place, the latest setback for the former US Open champion is set to pull him down ever further.

Despite repeated tries, LIV Golf is currently unable to set foot in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). Something that has left DeChambeau in a deteriorating position in the rankings. Going further down, the former World No. 4 is soon set to witness his biggest setback in 4 years by dropping out of the Top 50.
Bryson DeChambeau to drop out of the Top 50 in World Rankings
Making his debut in 2016, Bryson DeChambeau took no time to become a prominent name in the golf world. However, according to the recently released World Golf rankings, the California-born player has moved down and now sits in the 50th spot. Scrolling through the history pages, this is the lowest ranking for DeChambeau since the 14th week of 2018, when he stood at the 62nd spot.
The fall is set to worsen in the coming weeks as the OWGR is yet to certify LIV Golf as an eligible tour to be a part of World Rankings. In the quest to get into the OWGR, LIV Golf, earlier this month announced its alliance with the MENA Tour.
However, despite putting in all the efforts, the apex body of World rankings discarded the move by asserting, “Only after the review is complete will a decision be made on awarding points to the MENA Tour’s new “Limited Field Tournaments” [the LIV Golf Invitational Series].”

It is not only the Saudi Arabia-backed league that is pushing OWGR to inculcate itself in the rankings. Going further back, in September, DeChambeau, along with some other LIV Golfers, wrote to the chairman of the ranking body to grant eligibility to the new-found league. However, despite the tries, the body is yet to come up with a decision.
If not stopped, the falling rankings are expected to give birth to concerns like ineligibility to play in the majors. With the league now in its final phase, it is expected to take further steps to speed up the process of becoming a part of the World Rankings. On the part of DeChamambeau, he is next expected to play the season-ending Miami leg of LIV Golf.
