Bryson DeChambeau received a special package on Christmas Eve. It wasn’t that different from any other Christmas Cards. Except that DeChambeau’s one came straight from Augusta National. It’s an RSVP card, so to speak, that arrives without fail signed by Fred Ridley. Yes, we are talking about the Masters invitation.
Let’s just say it’s a tradition unlike any other. Usually, it reads, “The Board of Governors of the Augusta National Golf Club respectfully requests the honor of your presence [year] Masters Tournament to be held at the Augusta, Georgia [Dates].” Below that is the signature of the chairman.
Of course, this isn’t DeChambeau’s first one. But the thing with the Masters invitation is, each one of them feels like the first one. You can ask Ben Crenshaw. The two-time champion has a stash of every one of them. So DeChambeau’s ear-to-ear grin wasn’t forced. The Crushers captain posted an ‘unboxing’ clip on Instagram, captioning, “Every golf kids (sic!) dream… an invitation to @themasters [The Masters]. Hard work works and I’m forever grateful to play the sport I love.”

That clip was quite fittingly accompanied by Ke Huay Quan’s Oscar-winning speech from last year. “Dreams are something you have to believe in. I almost gave up on mine. To all of you out there, please keep your dreams alive,” Huan’s speech ran in the background. There is no certainty of how many of Bryson DeChambeau‘s LIV peers will be at ANGC. The PGA Tour and PIF are still in talks for a united future. Amid this chaotic moment, the Crushers captain has given something to fans to cheer for in the festive season.

In retrospect, Augusta National was the launching pad of Bryson DeChambeau’s major glory this year. Patrons were chomping on his beats (or fist pumps) in Georgia. DeChambeau’s chip-in hole out from 77 yards on the 18th left even Scottie Scheffler agape. In the end, the LIV Golfer couldn’t don the green jacket but definitely won over the patrons.
It was almost unthinkable two years back. Bryson DeChambeau was in the limelight for all the wrong reasons at that time. Be it his comments on ANGC, or run-ins with crews, the Scientist was at the butt end of ridicule from fans. It’s almost unbelievable how he has flipped the script. “Inspiration to us all, congratulations brother!” wrote one user.
Little wonder that they would love to see DeChambeau inside the Butler’s Cabin next year. “Hope you win it this year!!!!!,” commented one user. Another wrote, “2025 is your year.” DeChambeau’s 2025 will begin overseas, by the way. The Crushers captain will travel to India for the Asian Tour International Series.

ANGC started this tradition of sending invitations by mail in 1934, the inaugural year of the tournament, when it wasn’t even called the Masters. Perhaps that touch of history explains the charm. Last year, Tyrrell Hatton tweeted, ‘Number 8 & still as special as the first.’ So, one user aptly noted, “Some may say: ‘An invite unlike any other’”. Whereas, another user joked, “Big time Christmas flex.” The 2025 Masters will tee off on April 10. Next year will be Bryson DeChambeau’s ninth drive down Magnolia Lane. But as they say, it’s as charming as your first.
