After the third round of the Masters, Rory McIlroy might have gotten a flashback of his gut-wrenching loss last year. If there is a list of the biggest heartbreaks for Rory McIlroy at the major, it would include the loss to Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open in 2024. “I saw my dad up there and wished he was here for this one,” DeChambeau said, for his father, Jon, who passed away in 2022. The Northern Irishman’s attempt to end his 9 year drought of majors went to drain after his historic performance for his second major victory.
Dechambeau continued, “I’ve had years of hard work, and my dad telling me, ‘Just keep swimming for us.’ It’s a dumb Finding Nemo quote, but ‘just keep swimming’ from Dory, and no matter how hard it got, I just kept going.” However, this is just one Major instance memorable for him and his fans. The LIV golfer, with his limited presence against the PGA Tour professional, has left a mark at the Augusta National, too. The golfer, despite having zero victories, has worked to make some cherishable memories at the Masters 2025. So let’s take a look at those moments.

First hole-in-one
In 2019, if Bryson DeChambeau had wished for a victory, maybe it would have come true. But the golfer wishes for an ace. After three days at the Augusta National, the golfer has showcased an impressive performance; he carded 15 birdies in the first three rounds, but what was missing in his round was the much-awaited ace. And the golfer also wished for it.
Ahead of the final day, he shared about achieving a hole-in-one at the Masters, and indeed, it happened as he wished. On the 16th hole, ‘Redbud,’ the golfer hit a perfect tee shot for the par 3 hole. The ball ideally landed on the green but on the far right side of the hole. However, after hitting the green, the ball spun back towards the hole. Missing Kisner’s ball by inches, it found the center of the cup and the first ACE for DeChambeau’s career at Augusta National.

The historic feat of the golfer then was celebrated by the entire group, especially by the American professional who was seen jumping to celebrate his first ACE at the Augusta National.
Record low at the Masters
The two-time major has only won the US Open. However, he has been close to victory at the Masters. His performance at Augusta in 2024 has been the most memorable, as the golfer was placed T6 with Cam Smith. With rounds of 65-73-75-73, his 17 birdies were the major contributor to the score. But on the other hand, 13 bogeys made the difference from the top spot. But despite his flaws, the golfer has gained the confidence to clinch his third major title, and first at the Masters. But will he be able to do it in 2025? That is a story to find out.

Repeating the same feat as last year
It is rare to see a golfer repeating the same feat on the same hole on the same day. Sounds confusing, right? The 31-year-old who hasn’t bagged any victory at the Masters has continued his ideal form at the majors. He has performed the same feat as he did in 2024. Though he was placed at T6, with the 2025 season, he has repeated the same hole-out as in 2024.
Bryson DeChambeau, on the 18th hole of round three, birdied to score 75. In 2025, he repeated the same feat to achieve his score of 69 to stay strong in the contention for the green jacket. The golfer is currently placed in second position after the third round.
Overcoming the struggle with hard work
There have been many instances where DeChambeau has shown resilience in tough situations in the game. Take the example of the International Series India, where the golfer was seen practicing despite the round being postponed due to bad light. He said, “I think everybody has a different mental approach to it. My personal approach is to practice as hard as I possibly can. And that instills a sort of feel for me, where I can create this repeatable motion, where I can do it again and again and again. And from a mental side, if I can just continue to produce the same motion over and over again, that’ll bring confidence in myself.” His unique approach to work tirelessly impressed the golf community for his season-opening performance.
Now, with his appearance at the Masters 2025, the golfer has shown his tireless work attitude again. On Tuesday, as per the course stats, DeChambeau practiced extra as compared to the other golfers. He played 9 9-hole practice rounds alone and hit a total of 393 balls in a single day. The hard work of the golfer in refining the game has left a great impression on the fans as well as his fellow golfers.
