The name plays a major role in segregating an individual. Something it becomes all the more important in the case of a sporting entity. One such name is Bryson DeChambeau. Turning pro in 2016, DeChambeau steadily climbed the ladder of success. Building upon his career as a pro, the American star today enjoys a massive following. However, little does one know that one of the most prominent golfers has a set of great antics behind his name.

The year 2018 was rightly the turning point of Dechambeau’s PGA Tour career. Applying his renowned calculations, he won the Memorial Tournament, The Northern Trust, Dell Technologies Championship, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. In addition to that, he also finished as a runner-up in a couple of tournaments.

With the majestic results in place, DeChambeau indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the engaging conversation, he opened up about the story behind his name, ‘Bryson DeChambeau’.

Bryson DeChambeau reveals the story behind his name

The world knows the now LIV Golf player as Bryson DeChambeau. However, during the conversation, he asserted, “My name is Aldrich DeChambeau on the birth certificate.”

DeChambeau is known for his calculated game. However, coming out of the golf course, he is also known for his hilarious side. Something, which was visible in the conversation. Going ahead, he expressed gratitude towards his parents for a rib-tickling reason. “That’s why it’s B-A-D, bad. My middle name is James. Thanks, mom and dad, for giving me the longest name in the world,” he said.

A name is a part of an individual that is known to him since his toddling age. However, that wasn’t the case with DeChambeau. Going ahead in the conversation, he said, “Funny part is, I didn’t even know I had two last names until I was in high school.”

Sharing a laugh with the interviewer, he elaborated further with a hilarious story about the time he came to know his full name. “I went to register under DeChambeau, and they were like: ‘We don’t have a DeChambeau.'” he said. “My mom was like: ‘Oh, yeah, about that, you actually have two names.’ Didn’t know that for 14 years of my life.”

While Bryson wasn’t aware of his name, he was surely aware of his game. In the following years, the now 28-year-old gave some impressive performances, the biggest of which being the 2022 US Open. Moving ahead in his career, he now plays for LIV Golf at a $125 million contract.
