DeChambeau began by saying how he was so consistent during the 2018 season. However, in the 2019 season, things outside of golf began to bother him. The 2020 US Open winner said, “2019, I started to tinker around with some stuff and didn’t, didn’t have the form that I did in 2018 and then I got kind of bored with golf because it just wasn’t enjoyable for me and I was getting a lot of harsh criticism.”

With no friends and receiving constant criticism, DeChambeau was struggling to maintain composure. However, advice from a good friend, who is also a popular Hollywood actor, made a massive impact on the Scientist’s mind.

DeChambeau receives quality advice from ‘Star-Lord’
When Bryson DeChambeau was receiving constant hate, he finally received a piece of great advice from his friend, Chris Pratt. The actor told the golfer to not play the same character in public as he plays in his home. Instead, just play the character of what the fans wish him to be.
DeChambeau said, “Look, the character you are out there, that’s what they’re presenting you to be. And you either got to play that character or you have to um just remove yourself. You know because the character you are or the person you are at home, is not the character you are out there.”
Understandably, Bryson DeChambeau took Chris Pratt’s advice with the utmost respect. The following year, after suffering from constant hate, the Scientist went on to win his first Major title after claiming the 2020 US Open, shutting down all his critics. After joining LIV Golf, the hate for DeChambeau has reignited. However, this time he is well prepared mentally to overcome the hate.
