Bryson DeChambeau may have fallen short of victory at the International Series golf championship in India, but he’s earned praise for his commitment to growing the game of golf globally. Despite expressing disappointment with his performance, particularly on the 17th hole, DeChambeau was gracious in defeat, congratulating champion Ollie Schniederjans and acknowledging the challenging DLF Golf Club course.
What’s more, he was effusive in his praise for the Indian experience, thanking the organizers and hospitality staff for a fantastic welcome. His enthusiasm and dedication to spreading the game of golf have earned him rare praise from a PGA Tour winner, who commended him for “walking the talk” and putting in the effort to grow the game.
This sentiment was echoed by the hosts of the latest episode of Drop Zone on Spotify, who were impressed by DeChambeau’s commitment to growing the game. “That was cool,” one of them said, before adding, “I will say, and this actually bears saying, a lot of people have talked about growing the game of golf in the last five years. And I would say there are a few people who have actually backed up that talk more than Bryson DeChambeau.” The hosts praised DeChambeau’s willingness to put in the work to grow the game, even if it means traveling to less glamorous tournaments.

So, Bryson DeChambeau just wrapped up his time at the International Series golf championship in India, and it was definitely a mixed bag for him. On the one hand, he finished second to Ollie Schniederjans, which is nothing to sneeze at. But on the other hand, he was pretty disappointed with his performance, especially on the 17th hole where he dropped four shots in the first three rounds. Despite that, DeChambeau was super gracious and praised Schniederjans, saying “He beat me multiple times in college… He is a well-deserved champion, and he has earned every bit of the accolades that come with this win.”
And he had some really nice things to say about the Indian experience, too. He thanked the organizers and hospitality staff for making him feel welcome, and he even said that the DLF Golf Club course was one of the toughest he’s played on. What really stood out, though, was DeChambeau’s enthusiasm for Indian golf. He thinks it’s on the verge of exploding in popularity, and he’s excited to be a part of it. As he put it, “India is ready for golf to explode here… Hopefully, I and the Crushers, along with all of LIV Golf, can help inspire a younger generation.” It’s clear that DeChambeau has a real soft spot for the country and its people.
