“I’ve got a contract obligation out here to fulfill, and then we’ll see what happens,” said Brooks Koepka in response to the surrounding rumors regarding his departure from LIV Golf. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Koepka remains focused on the task at hand, and he’s confident that he and fellow LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau have an edge over their PGA Tour rivals at Augusta National. When asked about their preparation leading up to the Masters, Koepka pointed out that the typical schedule of playing eight PGA Tour events before the Masters isn’t necessarily the only way to prepare.

We still play a lot when we’re at home,” Koepka said at the LIV Golf Miami press conference. DeChambeau echoed Koepka’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of having time off to focus on his game. “Yeah, I think that everybody has their own prep work that they do. For me personally, I like having time off, getting ready for these events, focusing on them, and getting my game good into a good place, getting a strategy and game plan set up. ,” DeChambeau said. He believes that having extra time to prepare has been a “tremendous help” for him personally, allowing him to develop a solid strategy and game plan for each event.

Joaquin Niemann also chimed in, agreeing that having breaks in between events has been beneficial for him. “I feel like we also… we’re all working together on kind of getting a good schedule for the majors,” Niemann said. He believes that having weeks at home to work with his team has helped him build confidence in his game.

Overall, the trio seems to prefer having breaks in between events, using the time to practice and prepare for the majors. And well, they do have some other advantages.

LIV Golf’s Intense Format: A Major Advantage?

Bryson DeChambeau believes that LIV Golf’s three-round format has a significant benefit – it forces players to be intense from the very first shot. “Every shot matters more out here at LIV because if you make a double or triple, you’re so far behind the 8-ball that it’s tough to get back,” DeChambeau explained. This mindset of having to attack from the start has helped him and his fellow LIV Golf players, including Brooks Koepka, to develop a strong competitive edge.

While this approach may not always translate to majors like the U.S. Open or British Open, where patience is key, DeChambeau thinks it’s been beneficial overall. “Gunning after it” has helped him and his fellow players to stay focused and competitive, even in high-pressure situations. As DeChambeau noted, it’s rare for players to come back from a triple or double bogey and still win, so the intense format of LIV Golf has taught him to stay sharp and avoid costly mistakes. So, do you think this well give the LIV pros an edge in the upcoming major? Let us know in the comment section!
