Long John, in his recent interview with the Press and Journal, openly spoke about his relationship with Bryson DeChambeau. He revealed that DeChambeau calls him “Daddy,” a nickname that surprised fans and players alike. Speaking further about their relationship, Daly recalled a moment from the Open at St Andrews two years ago, where his son Little John caddied for him.

“Bryson gave me the greatest compliment. He said, ‘I hope when I’m 56 years old, I’ll be swinging like you.” The 1995 Open Championship winner’s swing strength still shows a glimpse of his peak. However, he came forward and emphasized DeChambeau’s impressive skills, saying, “The power he has is unbelievable. He can chip and putt and get up and down when he needs to.”

Maybe his skills and driving distance remind him of his peak days. But their connection goes beyond golf, as the 58-year-old described DeChambeau as “a great guy” and “a great, great kid.” While the two-time US Open winner’s approach to golf is fueled by physics and speed training, Daly approaches his play with, grip it, and rip it.

Bryson is a great, great kid.” Concluded the legend. What more happened at the 2022 Open Championship?
