Jena Sims bringing PGA and LIV together—Is this the unity golf needs right now?

Excitement fills the air at the Open Championship! Amidst the battle for the Claret Jug, a heartwarming display of friendship and affinity has emerged from the sidelines. We know that the rivalry between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour seems unlikely to end soon. But the wives of top golfers are trying to bridge the gap with joyful celebrations, capturing fans’ hearts everywhere.

Jena Sims, Brooks Koepka’s wife, recently posted a TikTok video that has gone viral. The video showcased her reunion with Alayna, Tony Finau’s wife, at the Royal Troon Golf Course. The caption Missed Ya @alayana accompanied the post. The pair were giggling and dancing to the beat, highlighting the strong friendship between the two women. The video also had an overlay captioning, Y’all’s favorite tour wife is back.

Notably, the merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour is nowhere close to being done, and tensions remain high. However, the wives of golfers are proving that even in times of adversity, unity and friendship can prevail. This lighthearted moment has delighted fans and showcases the fun side of their friendship and how they are not afraid of the backlash they might face from a few fans. Jena and Layna only get to meet in person on the golf course at major golf tournaments due to their husbands’ different tour schedules.

However, when they do meet, they make the most of it, often creating entertaining content for their fans. During the U.S. Open last month, Layna Finau posted a TikTok reel with Jena Sims and Sahith Theegala’s girlfriend, Juju, joining in on the fun. The post was captioned, “Your favorite wifeys! “ and featured a 6-second video where the three of them asked fans “Who you really want to see @golf course.”

And, earlier at the Masters this year, Sims posted an Instagram video that started with her sitting in a car, lowering her glasses, and seemingly looking out the window. Sims and Alayna did a cameo of running toward each other, jumping, and hugging each other in excitement. The subtitles read: “The first time of the year LIV wives face the PGA tour wives.”

Even Max Homa’s wife, Lacey Homa, joined the group during the Masters and clicked a few pictures with Sims. Crew’s loving mommy also shared those images on Instagram for the world to see, further expanding the friendship circle. Moreover, the ladies take a stand for each other. Their friendship is a testament to the power of connection, which both have demonstrated previously.

How did Jena Sims support Layna in a mansplaining situation?

In April of this year, Layna Finau addressed a mansplaining situation on TikTok with grace. When a user questioned her desire for easy access to the greens, she politely explained that golf is a unique sport where fans follow players across the course, making it challenging for wives to navigate.

Her calm response impressed Jena Sims, and she was quick to offer support, commenting, Tell them.”  As a fellow golfer’s wife and feminist, she likely resonated with Alayna’s experience and admired her stance. This exchange showcased the power of female friendship and support in the golf world, where wives are often subject to scrutiny and criticism.

By standing up for each other, Alayna and Jena are proving that their bond is stronger than any tour rivalry. And that’s something worth celebrating! What are your thoughts on their friendship and their latest TikTok post? Tell us in the comments section below.
