Jena Sims took to Instagram to share a frustrating encounter with Amazon’s teacher wish list feature. So, the main issue she faced was with third-party vendors on Amazon, who were not allowing her to ship items directly to teachers’ registry addresses. “What I’m finding is that some of these, like third party vendors, I don’t know if it’s China, I don’t know where it is, they’re not allowing me to ship to the registry address. So whenever I check out, I’m just removing the thing.“ said Sims in her story.
Koepka’s wife gave an example of the issue she was facing. She said, “So it’s telling me what the thing is like, there’s a six pack of stools that are supposed to go to Amanda Hetrick in Green Bay. I’m working on yours.” She acknowledged the difficulty she was experiencing and reassured her followers that she was committed to finding a solution. “But it’s, it’s not as easy as it was in years past. So I’m gonna, it’s gonna take me a second. But fear not, I’m getting through this. My goal is to do like, maybe 10, of these today.”
As she continued to navigate the issue, she shared a further update with her followers. “Some of them, I’m going to have to reach out to you all because your address is not populating. Some of them will let me buy some of the things on your registry and some of it’s just kind of all over the map. I don’t know what’s going on,” Her frustration was palpable.

Despite the challenges, Jena found a glimmer of hope. “But Sarah Henrik in Bloomington, Minnesota, you get a gold star because yours works. And I’m clicking Go right now.” She was relieved that some teachers’ wish lists were still working properly, and she was eager to move forward with the donations. But was it a glitch or were there issues on Amazon’s behalf?
Understanding the restrictions as per Amazon’s shipping policy
Jena Sims’ experience highlights the complexities of Amazon’s shipping policies. Even when sending small, lightweight items like Sharpies, unexpected issues can arise. In this case, the problem wasn’t with the item itself, but rather with the shipping restrictions and vendor policies.

To understand what went wrong, let’s take a brief look at Amazon’s shipping policies. When creating a Wish List, the default shipping address is provided, with only the name, city, and state displayed to protect privacy. However, some vendors may not allow shipping to certain addresses, and that’s where the issue can arise. By understanding these policies and restrictions, we can better navigate Amazon’s shipping process and avoid similar circumstances in the future.
