It’s a tradition unlike any other. And it’s a preparation unlike any other. Brooks Koepka’s Masters invite is pretty secure as the 2023 PGA Championship winner—major champions get a five-year exemption. With that, Jena Sims’s presence at the storied Georgia pitch is also a given.

Sims, Koepka’s model entrepreneur wife, has appeared on the greens a handful of times. Not just outside the ropes—there she obviously remains—but inside the ropes as well. Last year, the 36-year-old caddied for her husband at the par-3 contest with their baby, Crew Koepka, on her lap. This year, prepare for a similar picture coming out of Augusta National.

Sims is already prepping hard for the caddie role while Koepka is gearing up for the first tournament of the season. The five-time major winner has already retained two of his former teammates. Interestingly, the retention of ‘relegated’ players like Bubba Watson and Brendan Grace in other teams has already raised eyebrows as detractors criticize LIV Golf for making a mockery of the relegation system. Then, ex-LIV Golf Pro Eugenio Chacarra accused the Greg Norman-fronted league of peddling false hopes.

But all these fiascos surrounding her husband’s employer don’t bother Jena Sims much. The 36-year-old is more focused on the upcoming Masters. She has a white caddie bib ready as well. Jena Sims shared a picture of the jumpsuit on her Instagram story, captioning, “It’ll be here before you know it.” That is true.

The Augusta National starts sending invites to players by late December which typically arrives around Christmas. Players have to RSVP that they would indeed be part of the season’s first major. Brooks Koepka would be one of the 12 from LIV Golf to tee off at Augusta National this April. But more than that, Masters is a special occasion for the Koepkas for one more reason. It’s where their relationship blossomed.

Brooks Koepka and Sims have a special Masters bond

The couple first met at the 2015 Masters, when Koepka was still a relatively young PGA Tour pro trying to make a name for himself. Sims was an aspiring model. Now, Koepka is a five-time major winner with a Masters runner-up under his belt. Jena Sims has already debuted in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.

Speaking to Claire Rogers at the Scoop podcast, the 36-year-old said she was the one who first DMed Koepka. The two chatted for a few months before Sims asked Koepka to meet her at the Masters. “He reached over the ropes and like hugged me and even the crowd around me was like who is she? And that night I met his entire family. we weren’t even dating that was our first interaction. But he was like I would love to like take you to dinner.”

So, it’s no surprise that Jena Sims is excited to return to the venue where they first met. “It’s so special because Brooks and I met at the Masters so it’s almost full-circle. And now we’re bringing our kid there, which is wild,” New York Post quoted Sims as saying last year. Koepka’s Masters trip wasn’t fruitful last April, as he finished T45 shooting 9-over. While his ticket for Augusta is secured till 2026, Brooks Koepka would surely like to slip on the green jacket that he missed in 2023 by just 4 strokes.
