Has Brooks Koepka lost his mind? At least that’s what the golf community thinks of the LIV Golf star. The 5x major winner is considered one of the best golfers in the world. Even before he made the switch to the Saudi-based league, Koepka was dominating the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.

The 34-year-old has 9 PGAT wins to his name, which includes 3 PGA Championships and 2 U.S. Opens. He has also successfully defended both major championships once. Alternatively, Koepka also has 7 DP World Tour title wins, which include back-to-back wins at Dunlop Phoenix in 2016 and 2017.

When we look at Koepka’s win records, it tells us that he is an extremely prolific golfer. What might surprise you though is that he also has 13 second-place finishes on the PGA Tour. This includes two at the Masters Tournaments in 2023 and 2019, one at the PGA Championship in 2021, and another at the U.S. Open in 2019. Koepka has definitely proved that he is one of the best golfers in the world. But fans don’t agree with his claims of being better than some who have achieved far more in their career than him.

Brooks Koepka recently interviewed for Golf Digest on the course. In one of the segments, he was asked to not react until a player better than him was named. The interviewer went through a list of some of the biggest names. They mentioned Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler, and others. However, to the surprise of the fans, the Smash GC captain only cracked once he heard the name of Tiger Woods.

Koepka might be good, but he has definitely overlooked some big names during the segment. He did mention “I was going to hold out, but yeah, Tiger, I can’t even joke about that one. Tiger’s kind of got that one.” as he laughed it off. But fans did think that he was a bit arrogant to react the way he did.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Koepka's confidence justified, or is he overlooking legends like Mickelson and McIlroy?

Fans show Brooks Koepka his place in the rankings

A fan said, “Him thinking he’s better than Scheffler is hilarious” as they were surprised Koepka didn’t break at Scottie Scheffler. Although, as another fan evidently pointed out, “Nah he started laughing at scottie lol”. Rolling back the video, we can see that Brooks Koepka started smirking when the world no. 1’s name was mentioned. Despite what everyone believes, Scheffler does have fewer majors than Koepka despite the former winning more PGA Tour events.

There was a comment that read “Yeah even Phil was 10x the golfer he’s ever been”. Mickelson has had a far better career than Koepka. The 54-year-old has captured 45 PGA Tour titles throughout his illustrious career. In fact, Mickelson also has more major wins than the Smash GC captain. Wouldn’t that make him a far better player?

One fan in the comments section had an entirely contradicting opinion to that of Brooks Koepka. They mentioned, Tigers not better than him now. And if you’re talking about career. Mickelson, Rory have better ones”. Honestly, Rory McIlroy has been incredibly consistent for a very long time. He also has 3 times more titles than Koepka. Moreover, fans generally consider him to be one of the best in the world at present. That’s not a list Koepka would rank highly on.

Someone said, “What an ego. Play in a real league and then you can keep your mouth shut”. Koepka does seem to be reaching out of his depth considering the big names mentioned in the list. His lack of reaction to Johnson, Spieth, Rahm, Schauffele, and DeChambeau is just as shocking as any other players. Interestingly, Koepka has always disliked DeChambeau. Fans spotted his “hate” for his fellow LIV Golf pro during an interview the two of them had before their exhibition match against McIlroy and Scheffler.

There was also a fan who bluntly stated “He is delusional”, suggesting that Koepka thinks he is far better than he actually is. Judging by the names he skipped, we would probably agree with that.

Do you think Brooks Koepka is better than any of the golfers mentioned in the interview? Let us know in the comments section.
