A horrifying case has taken place at Florida State University in Tallahassee, where multiple patients have been hospitalized after an active shooter was reported on campus. The school sent an alert urging students to seek shelter as a shooter was reported in the area of the student union. According to the alert, police were “on scene or on the way,” and instructed students to “lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures.” At least four people have been hospitalized, and the situation is being closely monitored by law enforcement.
The response efforts are being led by multiple agencies, including the FBI, which has special agents from both the Tallahassee and Jacksonville offices on-scene or en route. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also “actively engaged” on the campus and will provide updates as soon as possible. As the situation continues to unfold, students and staff are being kept informed through university alerts, and law enforcement is working to clear rooms and ensure the campus is safe. The university has urged everyone on campus to continue sheltering in place until law enforcement contacts them, with those in need of immediate emergency assistance advised to call 9-1-1 or the FSUPD at 850-644-1234.
In response to the tragedy, LIV Golf pro Brooks Koepka shared a heartfelt message on X, saying, “My heart is broken reading the news 💔 Praying hard for my whole FSU family and Tallahassee 🙏.” The community is coming together to support those affected by the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. The university and local authorities are working to provide support and resources to students, staff, and faculty during this difficult time.

Netizens are worried about the students at Florida State University
S”Wishing safety to all Noles,” wrote one fan, while another said, “This really hurts man.” Well, it does hurt. The US has seen a disturbing rise in school shootings. Between 1999-2004, the average yearly rate of student exposure to school shootings was 19 per 100,000 students. By 2020-2024, this rate tripled to 51 per 100,000. Some areas are hit harder than others – Delaware, DC, Utah, Arkansas, and Nevada have had the highest rates of school shooting exposure from 2020 to 2024. “Sad news but not at all surprising”, one other fan wrote, analyzing America’s history with school shootings.

My rival high school in my hometown of Winder,” she wrote, revealing her personal connection to the community.
As a mother herself, with a one-year-old son named Crew, Sims couldn’t help but think of her own child’s future, adding “Makes me terrified to send Crew to school one day. Praying🙏🏻”. The shooting claimed four lives and injured many others, leaving the community in shock and everyone is hoping the same does not happen again.
