For Brandel Chamblee, the PGA Tour is what defines golf. The outspoken LIV critic has always been well-known for his takes against the Saudi-backed tour. Most recently, he found himself in action against LIV after the new CEO Scott O’Neil praised LIV Golf Adelaide and stated that the best golf in the world outside of majors happens at LIV Golf.
“You don’t have to look too far past our leaderboard to know that outside of the majors, if you want to see the best players in the world, there’s only one place to see it, and that’s at LIV,” O’Neil stated during the broadcast. But Chamblee was not impressed. And boy did he clap back. This time with receipts. He went on a mini tirade on the performance of LIV players during the majors.
“And yet their top 10 players average finish was outside the top 40 in the 34 majors they played last year… meanwhile Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler won 3 of the 4 majors in 2024 so maybe you only have to look far enough past their leaderboard to see a PGA Tour leaderboard,” Chamblee stated. And it is true, Scheffler and Schauffele had a dominant 2024, with the only Major the duo missed out on being the US Open. LIV starlet Bryson DeChambeau grabbed the US Open title.

Chamblee has had a love-hate relationship with Bryson DeChambeau. He had commented that DeChambeau had lost all interest in golf and treated it as a side hustle. “It’s a part-time job. LIV is a part-time job,” Chamblee stated. He has since stated that Bryson is an example for all golfers in the world.“Bryson is one of the best things to ever happen to golf. He’s a reminder that professional golf isn’t just about putting a number on the board but giving back to those that pay for their purses.”
Therefore, it is not surprising that he had some good words for DeChambeau’s style of play. Recently, on X Chamblee posted a video about his swing speed which seemed to hit the high 150s. It is to be noted that Chamblee had not swung his club in a long time. “After a few months of not touching a club, decided to get back after it and get to 160 ball speed,” explained the former PGA Tour pro.

One fan indicated that the swing is very similar to DeChambeau’s and apparently Chamblee was inspired by the swing despite not being a big fan of the current US Open winner.“Bryson inspired all generations.” However, Chamblee turned the tables on the fan stating that Bryson DeChambeau learned the swinging technique from his book ‘The Anatomy of Greatness’, therefore, he was the one who inspired the action inDeChambeau.“Well, I did write a book describing the moves Bryson eventually incorporated, showing how the greats of the past moved and how this generation lost the plot resisting with the lower body.”
The video also garnered a lot of views and comments mostly making fun of Chamblee on his attempt.
Fans react to Brandel Chamblee’s golf swing
One fan did not mince words. He directly stated that the shot was not a good one in not so many words.“Swing looks like shit. Where’s the finish”
The outspoken LIV critic’s tee shot prompted one fierce response that Chamblee would not be a fan off. The former PGA Pro has been very vocal in his distaste for LIV Golf previously. “Why would anyone who is not being paid to obscure their objectivity ‘cover’ LIV in a positive manner. The money comes from the sewer and the product stinks worse than the source.””
Chamblee most recently went after LIV Golf Adelaide winner Joaquin Niemann. “All those players joined that tour saying they wanted to play less but now, to accrue world ranking points, they’re playing more and all around the world where ranking points are available, the way Joaquin Niemann has done. And Niemann, yeah, he’s a good player, but let’s not pretend that he’s as good as they pretend he is. He’s played in 22 Majors and never even finished in the top 15. Seven missed cuts.”

The reaction from one fan stated that his improving swing could mean that he is joining LIV, the same tour he has been a vocal critic of.“Maybe he’s going to join LIV”
Rather than DeChambeau, one fan stated that the swing reminded him of another PGA Tour player. Kevin Kisner is currently ranked 863rd in the world and has had a difficult 2025 PGA Tour season, having missed the cut in both the tournaments he has played for. So getting compared to Kisner is not really an indication of a good swing.“Reminds me of Kisner swing”
One fan was sure that Chamblee used an extra to do the swing for him.“Stunt Double?” He was surprised particularly because the one-time PGA Tour winner is currently 62 years old and has not played in the PGA Tour circuit since 2003. For his age, his swing is incredulous. “110! Not bad, old man”

Old or not, the 1998 Greater Vancouver Open still packs a punch with his swing. A swing that is comparable to the current PGA Tour and LIV Golf pros. Do you think Chamblee will be able to handle himself in a real competition against younger folks?
