

With the Masters approaching, golfers are pulling up their socks to showcase the best of their skill set. On one hand, some prominent names with their dominant form have taken time off course to get back with ample rest. On the other hand, golfers who haven’t had the best start are polishing their skills with more participation. Take the example of World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is on the course of the Houston Open and is showcasing great swings,
Apart from the two categorised players, some have showcased some great rounds, but still they were short of the victory. Justin Thomas is one such player. The 31-year-old has 15 PGA Tour victories under his name. However, the glorious run of victories has been on a halt for the last three years. Even with his ongoing form, he has come close to victory twice with his runner-up finishes, but couldn’t clinch it.
But for his form, former golfers and commentators have suggested JT fix his flaw. Recently, at the Sky Sports Golf Podcast, Brandel Chamblee joined the panel along with Billy Horschel. When he was asked about Thomas’s recent blow after his second runner-up finish of this season. Chamblee has shared how it is a sign of him getting ready to make some great finishes soon.

Away from the praise, the commentator noticed and shared the flaw that might change the predictions. He shared, “Every golfer’s dealing with some weakness somewhere pretty much. And with JT, it’s driving accuracy.” Thomas, with his runner-up finish at the American Express, achieved 57.1 driving accuracy. At the Valspar Championship, it was even worse as he recorded 53.9% driving accuracy.

Speaking further he said, “He’s never really had, and this is crazy to say about somebody’s who’s won prolifically, in majors, in the Players, he’s done it all, at this age into the Hall of Fame, but I wouldn’t say that he’s ever really had that stinger shot that Tiger had.” Tiger Woods, who has achieved peak performance with his driving accuracy during the 1990s-2000s. He achieved 71% accuracy. However, for JT, achieving 60% is a gigantic task.

JT himself, in the beginning, promised to make some prominent changes for it. And he did predict a better 2025 season in the beginning.

Struggles with driving accuracy have been prominent for the golfer. But despite the challenges and great overall performance, JT has shared his thoughts on improvement this season. During the pre-tournament press conference at the Sentry, he said, “I know that that, as good as my iron game is, hitting a couple more fairways a round, whatever it is, just driving it a little bit better like I feel like.” Well, during his last participation in the 2024 schedule, which was the Hero World Challenge, the American professional did achieve 76.9% accuracy.
