The venue for 2024’s LIV Golf’s Individual Championship has been revealed! As per reports, the Bolingbrook Golf Club on the outskirts of Chicago will be hosting the 13th event on the breakaway league’s calendar. It was designed by the famous architect Arthur Hills and partner Steve Forrest. Tracing the inexpensive play and public course nature of the Chicago-based golf course, fans seem to be perplexed by the Greg Norman-led enterprise’s bizarre decision.

The season finale is undoubtedly the most important event on the league’s calendar. The course also hosted the PGA Tour’s mini-COVID response Forme Tour in 2021. The reason LIV Golf chose the 7104-yard course centers around its mission to make holistic and sustainable investments to help enhance the global nature of the game on a worldwide scale. This dichotomy between the differences in importance of the two events was also widely criticized by fans.

Talking about the event’s venue, the CEO of LIV Golf said, “The passionate sports fans of Chicago have embraced the intense competition and fan-first experience that LIV Golf delivers, and this year it will be an incredible setting for a high-stakes event as players battle it out for the individual title and a roster spot for 2025. We’re thrilled to return to Illinois with an event at Bolingbrook Golf Club as we celebrate the season-long race and set the stage for the 2024 finale.”

Mayor Mary Basta was also enthralled about the LIV Golf’s coming to the town as she said “We are excited to welcome the star-studded, international field of great players to The Village of Bolingbrook and Bolingbrook Golf Club.” Last year, the season-finale was held in Jeddah, where Brooks Koepka successfully defended his title.

While the tickets for the event will be made available from May 8 onwards, their sales largely depend on fan opinions on the venue, and the same does not seem to be in the breakaway league’s favor. Despite the importance of the event and its significance in determining the 2025 roster, the bizarre choice of venue continues to rattle fans.

Backed by the big bucks of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, LIV Golf, and money hurdles are anonymous to one another. Despite the dearth of financial resources, the league continues to face problems in terms of allocating venues to its events due to many courses’ continued commitment to the PGA Tour among other reasons. Highlighting the same in light of their unexpected choice, a fan wrote, “Money doesn’t buy great venues.” While another fan quickly remarked, “Wow. Bolingbrook is a sh*t hole.”

Yet another fan quickly remarked, “Same thing happened in Orlando when they played Orange County National. Not a horrible course but it’s $60 a round.” They quoted the league’s history of playing on rather unexpected greens, and brought to light the famous course that LIV Golf referred to as one with “teeth and claws, definitely no pushover.”  While they did seem to agree that the Orange County National was indeed no pushover, the $60 for a round price tag did not seem to sit well with them.

Yet another critical netizen made a note stating, “Great A $90 public course? The other courses too long for your crew?Their sarcastic remark hinted at the stereotype against LIV golfers’ abilities as they play less for big bucks. League’s top talent will be present for the individual season-ending event, and a public course where a round costs $90 did not just sit right!

Highlighting the relatively easier nature of the public course with no history of serious professional events being hosted on it, a more opinionated fan wrote, “Lol, playing cupcake courses as usual. Circus golf.” They referred to the breakaway league as “circus golf,” signaling back to the narrative surrounding its innate nature of playing exhibition golf, popular in the golf world
