The Ryder Cup is only a month and a half away, and the anticipation is high in the golfing community. Which players will make it into the American and European teams? Which team will claim the title and make their nation proud? Only time will tell.

As for the teams though, that’s coming along nicely. Team US has already announced the Captain as Zach Johnson and the 5 Vice captains which include Fred Couples, Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk, and Davis Lowe III. They also announced the names of a few American golfers who may be joining the team. Now, Team Europe has announced Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm as the new additions.

There are several golfers who earned their spots on the roster for the Ryder Cup. But some members of the team had to be handpicked. While Team USA is shaping up steadily, Team Europe has Luke Donald as the captain and he has a number of decisions to make.

The vice-captains hand-picked for Team Europe are Jose Maria Olazabal, Thomas Bjorn, Edoardo Molinari, and Nicolas Colsaerts. Now, two prime members of the team have been finalized and the golfing world is ecstatic. North Irishman Rory McIlroy and Spain’s pride, Jon Rahm are two of the spectacular picks for Team Europe.

An Instagram post to welcome the two European players is currently the talk of the town. McIlroy made a whopping $61,216,682 from FedEx Cup Playoffs alone in his career. The Ryder Cup is yet another challenge that has always treated him well. Jon Rahm claimed four titles at the PGA Tour events this season.

The two golfers are ranking high on the FedEx Cup points list. Their Ryder Cup selections weren’t far off. Fans along with the vice captains are sharing their reactions to having the two golfers on Team Europe.

Most of the golfing world is giddy with the news that emerged today on Ryder Cup Europe’s official Instagram handle. Vice Captains Bjorn and Colsaerts, along with Captain Donald were the first to welcome the two PGA Tour pros to the team.

Some fans were super excited about the newest additions to Team Europe. One admirer wrote, “That’s gonna be tough to beat these guys!” while another fan fondly added,Team Europe looking dangerous.” Many added the fire icon to symbolize how Team Europe is lit.

Some fans from Spain welcomed the players saying, “Vamos [let’s go]” while others appreciated the team’s effort to choose the top players adding, “Bold move choosing these two.”

Some fans queried about the stars which indicate the number of Ryder Cup challenges each player has faced. That ignited a debate where admirers of the sport added a few harsh comments saying, “And they felt a need to show Rory was more accomplished than Rahm? When was the last time Rory won a major? And Rahm?”

While die-hard fans tried to calm them down, another admirer wrote, “They’re great. My only concern is do we have enough experience that pours into those who don’t have it or are rather less powerful in terms of ‘f***withable’ if you get my drift.”

As exciting as the announcement has been, it seems to be instigating a lot of debate in the golfing community.
