Golfers’ pitstop at the BMW PGA Championship prior to the prestigious Ryder Cup is over. Ryan Fox won the event and became the first New Zealander to win the $9 million event. The golfer who led the event during the final day for a while, Tyrrell Hatton, was upstaged when Fox recovered from his triple bogey and won.

Despite his close call at Wentworth Club, ‘Angry Golfer’ Hatton has not lost his positivity for the upcoming Rome grandeur. It seems like he is eagerly looking forward to the grand stage at Marco Simone, especially because of the “team bond” of the tournament.

2020 BMW PGA Championship winner Hatton was leading the event by four shots, but an unfortunate bogey at the 15th hole ruined the lead for him. Up until the first 12 holes on the final day, Hatton had shot seven birdies and one bogey. On the final 18th, the English golfer shot a birdie when he holed from 8 feet and was tied at T2 with Aaron Rai.

In a post-match press conference, Hatton answered a few questions, and one of them was how excited the golfer was to go to Rome, once the disappointment of coming so close to winning settled. In the blink of an eye, the golfer regarded the coming weeks as “special.”

Sharing about what makes the upcoming Ryder Cup grandeur special, he said, “Just to have that team sort of bond and the atmosphere that we create in that team room is amazing.” The 31-year-old star also talked about how all of the golfers follow other sports and how they “envy” the “team bond” factor of many sports.

Reiterating the team bond factor, he said it is “great” that they get to “do it once every two years.” The golfer said that the Ryder Cup is definitely one of the “most special weeks” that a golfer can have in their career, and he is “really excited to be part of Team Europe.”

The interviewer also asked him how he felt about his game, and Hatton answered that his game was in good form. He said, “I feel like I’ve played nice all week.” Pointing out his Saturday game during the tournament, he said it was “the best I’ve played for a long time.”

The golfer said that although his game looked like that, it ended with a decent score at the end, but it was kind of the worst it has been. But being informed that bad days are part of the game too, the golfer said, “It was just nice to get some cover going the right way.”
