Women in golf have come a long way but they had to fight hard for it. For a game for which the tagline happens to be a gentlemen’s game, the ladies had to break many barriers to earn their deserving place in it. And though golf influencer Paige Spiranac may not actively play, she is acutely aware of the struggles that women face on the greens.

And despite her differences, she is ready to support the LPGA players when it comes to unfair comparison. After Lexi Thompson played on the PGA Tour recently, there has been a lot of sexist criticism about it. But Spiranac is there to support her friend.

Not long ago Lexi Thompson made her debut on the men’s PGA Tour at the Shriners Children’s Open. Though she failed to make the cut, her commendable efforts received much support from the female golf community. However, some people were more concerned about whether or not she was teeing it off with the men than focusing on her performance.

In Spiranac’s latest episode of her podcast Playing a Round with Paige, the influencer spoke about the matter and defended Thompson. The former golfer did not shy away from showing her support for Thompson and went on to praise the American golfer and said, Way to go. Lexi, I think she blew everyone away. She was so poised she played so well.

When Thompson failed to make the cut at the PGA Tour event, she became a victim of online trolls. Even then Spiranac came to the young golfer’s defense and stated, “And yes, she did play from the men’s tees where everyone else played. That was a big question. While she was playing so many people kept asking what tees Is she playing from she was playing for the men’s tees. Talk about Sport.”

The 30-year-old also recalled an incident where she met Thompson before one of her big games and went on to speak about the LPGA Player’s calm demeanor and shared, “So, last time I talked to you. I was about to go to Vegas and Lexi Thompson was going to tee off I was there I talked to her she was cool, calm, and collected.”

In the previous episode of her podcast, Spiranac shed some well-deserved praise on Thompson. Wherein she spoke about Thompson’s early years of golfing and said, “She was a phenom when she was 10, 11, 12, 13. I remember her winning events at 12.” Spiranac once again became an advocate for Thompson and stated, “For people to say that she doesn’t deserve it, she’s been in the spotlight for such a long time. And I can’t think of someone more deserving of this opportunity.”

Lexi may not have made the cut, but her attempt has been historic. The PGA tour has seen very few female golfers. Thompson, with her appearance, made it to the list of female golfers who have competed in a PGA tour event. The 28-year-old became the seventh female golfer to do so. She surely is inspiring and will definitely serve as an inspiration to other female golfers.
