Billy Horschel’s name is all you can hear at Royal Troon. His powerful swing has earned him this rightful place, after all. But what gives him these powerful strides? Well, first, there’s his immaculate swings and his ability to rise above challenges, no matter what befalls him. Then, there are the secrets resting well in the depths of his bag.

After all, a good set of clubs, coupled with some other essential pieces of equipment, can make or break a player’s game. And in Horschel’s case, it’s definitely the former. A proud lover of Titleist, this 37-year-old’s smooth drives find their power from the GT3 driver with a 9-degree loft and the Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shafts. These freshly introduced GT series pieces have caught the eyes of the Tour since they made their way to some of the most skilled pros. The public still has to wait till August to get hold of this skillfully curated masterpiece.

For his fairway woods, Horschel makes use of the Titleist TSi2 three-wood with a 15-degree loft and a Project X HZURDUS Smoke Black 70 6.5 shaft, and the Titleist TSi2 five-wood with an 18-degree loft and a Project X HZURDUS Smoke Black 80 6.5 shaft.

Continuing his saga with Titleist are his irons. He uses the Tour-famous Titleist T100 irons from 3 through 5, and Titleist 620 MB irons from 6 through 9 which are built for the golfing purist. He couples all his irons with the trusted True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts. The former is priced at $200/iron. Whereas, the latter is priced at $175/iron.

Next on the list of Horschel’s pieces of equipment is his safe choice of wedges. Like most Tour pros, he uses the Titleist Vokey Design SM10 wedges (46-10F, 52-12F, 56-10S, and 60-08V bent to 62), all with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts. These are priced at $189 per club and “help generate precise contact, optimize flighting and increase spin.”
