Tiger Woods proposed to his then-girlfriend Elin Nordegren in late 2003 after he competed in that year’s Presidents Cup. The couple decided to tie the knot a year later in Barbados.
The guest list included some of the biggest names in the world of sports along with A-listed Hollywood stars. The lavish sunset wedding reportedly cost $1.5 million. However, for the 15-time Major champion, money isn’t the problem, privacy is.
Details from Tiger Woods’ wedding
Unnamed sources told the Barbados Daily Nation that the event cost $1.5 million. For the occasion, Woods reportedly brought 500 red flowers from abroad. Nordegren donned a beige suit to the wedding while Woods, 28, wore an off-white sleeveless gown.
The Sandy Lane resort and golf course had undergone unusual measures to shield the wedding from journalists. Reportedly, more than 120 guests were invited to the wedding. This included famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey and former NBA players Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.

Three hours before the wedding, Woods’ father, Earl, drove up to the resort in a silver Rolls-Royce. The rock band Hootie and the Blowfish played in the “19th hole,” a garden area of the Green Monkey golf course. The fireworks then illuminated the night sky along Barbados’ west coast.

The single helicopter charter firm on the island claimed that it was fully booked, so it appears that Woods took this precaution, preventing reporters and photographers from flying over the event. Additionally, he rented out the entire hotel, which, according to the hotel’s website, includes around 200 rooms with nightly rates ranging from $700 to $8,000 each.
The ultimate objective of Tiger Woods was to maintain the privacy of the ceremony. And Woods succeeded in doing so, as no picture from the wedding was leaked and the ceremony was completed with utmost privacy.
In 2010, the couple decided to divorce after several of Woods’ allegations became public. However, both Woods and Nordegren have moved on in their lives and are still seen together frequently with their children. Woods is currently dating Erica Herman who shares a good relationship with Nordegren.
