In the golf world, finding an endorsement deal is often like winning a game. After all, they leave pros more recognized and richer, just like a win. Arguably none would know that better than Nelly Korda, who not only seems to find win after win on the tour but is also the best of sponsors.

Just earlier this year, the LPGA star ended her deal with her old apparel sponsor, J. Lindеbеrg, and thereafter signed a multi-year deal with Nikе in January. And while Nike is currently bathed in controversy with her idol in sports, Tiger Woods, Korda has chosen no sides in the feud and continued what she’s been doing the entire year, donning some “top-notch” kicks.

Playing at the Grant Thornton Invitational this week, the eight-time LPGA Tour winner was seen wearing a gorgeous pair of glossy white and grey Air Jordan 1 Low G NRGs during the first round. And with the splendid performance she put up alongside Tony Finau wearing them, her play and the shoes were almost equally talked about.

In fact, in the interview that followed the round, one reporter asked her for more information about her Nike’s, and Korda’s response was nothing but classy. She claimed they were the only choice for her that day because they matched her outfit!

“I think they’re called the Mirrors,” she said excitedly. “They blended really nicely with my shirt, so I was like, This is top-notch; I’m going to rock it today.”

Nike spent over two years developing these shoes, which they finally accomplished during the 2021 Ryder Cup. With the design, Nike aimed to explore Michael Jordan’s genuine connection with golf, and the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low G NRGs, part of the Mirror Pack, reflect the effort.

The shoes, along with high tops, feature chrome aglets, an ambigram “23” graphic motif, and hidden details like a ball marker, perfect for a superb golfer like Korda. The self-proclaimed Woods fan donning such significant shoes amid a time where Nike and the golf legend are seeing nothing but controversy reports has certainly aided the golf world to look beyond that. One way or another, it will end!

Tiger Woods and Nike’s potential split

For weeks now, rumors have been afloat about Tiger Woods ending his long-standing relationship with Nike. The 15-time major winner, who has been with the $172 billion apparel giant since 1996, has not been seen wearing the iconic swoosh logo on his shoes on the greens since 2022. Moreover, many recent reports claim that at the PNC, where he is playing next week, it will be his last time donning any Nike apparel.

Nike, which exited the golf equipment business in 2016, but continued selling equipment for the sport and sponsoring players with it, has remained silent on the market, as has Woods himself. So only time will tell what comes to be.
