Brooks Koepka is having a standout year so far. Not only did he shine on LIV Golf, but he also marked his significance by winning the 2023 PGA Championship. Now, all these efforts didn’t go in vain, and to add more to his lucky year, he even got a place on the US team for the Ryder Cup as a captain’s pick, drawing closer to his dream even more. 

Now, after attempting a huge jump in chasing his dream, Brooks Koepka is making an astonishing statement regarding the Ryder Cup. Let’s see what the five-time major winner said about this coveted tournament!

Brooks Koepka blatantly admits about his stance on the Ryder Cup

Last year, all the LIV defectors were barred from prestigious tournaments like the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. But this year, after the signing of the merger, it was concluded that the LIV defectors could participate in the majors and make it to the American team depending on whether they qualify or get picked by the captain, Zach Johnson.

As an opportunist as always, the five-time major winner took advantage of the situation and marked glory this year by winning the PGA Championship and coming to the attention of the captain, Zach Johnson. 

Koepka was holding quite a good position in the Ryder Cup US standings after his major win, but there was still uncertainty because of the FedEx playoffs, where the LIV loyalists couldn’t participate.

Gradually, his position in the standing was going in a downward trajectory, hence, it seemed like a dwindling hope for the LIV defector. But finally, after facing all the obstacles, he’s one of the picks on Zach Johnson’s Ryder Cup team.

Now, after achieving the most desired place on the US team, the 33-year-old made a confession, reflecting on how much it means to him to represent his country on international grounds. The LIV defector said, “I think you’re just playing for something bigger than yourself. You don’t want to let the other guys on the team down, and it’s a fun event. The most nervous I’ve ever been in a golf tournament was teeing it up at the Ryder Cup”

Koepka sheds light on the fact that the Ryder Cup is about teamwork and serving the team in a way that one can prove to be an asset for the group without disappointing the teammates. In addition, he also states that he was most nervous teeing up at the Ryder Cup.

Finally, after a long wait, the verdict was given by Johnson, and Koepka made it to the team as the only LIV player. Now that is a matter of pride, right? Given that he’s the first LIV player to play in the Ryder Cup after the LIV-PGA Tour fiasco. 

Thus, in order to celebrate this achievement, the golfer shared a memorabilia, which is basically a collage of his past Ryder Cup appearances in the colors of blue, red, black, and white. And in the medley, there was a picture of Brooks Koepka where he is wearing a cap that says in caps- USA. Besides this, the post also carried the caption, “Eras: @rydercupusa #GOUSA”. This post also refers to Taylor Swift’s musical tour, the Eras Tour, and her signature color collaboration.
