Now, you must be wondering if the two play for the same league, so they are to be friends! They are now, but that has not always been the case. Their feud began back in 2019 when Keopka indirectly called out the Scientist for slow play during the Dubai Desert Classic. The war of words simmered for a few years between them. But since joining the Saudi-funded LIV Golf League, they finally found common ground that helped mend their long-standing conflict.
In 2023, they played together at the PGA Championship, and after winning it, Koepka said, “We’re good. I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here at LIV. Pretty much on an every-other-day basis. We’ve got a good open line of communication, we’ve figured it all out and we’re good.” When DeChambeau secured his second U.S. Open title this year, Koepka shared a supportive message, welcoming DeChambeau to the club of two-time U.S. Open champions.
While Koepka took the opportunity to ask if this means they are ‘best friends’ now, fans found it pretty exciting and couldn’t wait to see them pair beside each other on the greens.
What’s your perspective on:
Is the DeChambeau-Koepka duo strong enough to topple the World No. 1 and Rory McIlroy?

Fans cheer for DeChambeau and Koepka’s surprising new friendship
While DeChambeau is yet to answer that question, fans are already coming up with their own theories. DeChambeau and Koepka’s pairing is something that is not just unexpected, but rather it’s something golf fans silently rooted for. One user captured the sentiment well, noting, “Good to see you two go full circle,” referring to the pair’s history of clashes that has now seemingly turned into collaboration. Another fan chimed in, “You always have been; you just didn’t know it,” alluding to the way their rivalry has long kept them in the spotlight together, whether they liked it or not.
Indeed, this partnership makes the entire match even more thrilling. It’s not only the swings and putts that the golf world awaits; it’s also the history between these two that has them talking. “It’s coming true; I can’t help but smile” and “Can’t wait for this.”
But not all fans are so ready to let bygones be bygones. You see, DeChambeau was not always the loved golfer that he is now. A few years ago, he was considered to be an arrogant golfer for his behavior, but his YouTube has shown a side that fans now adore. After all, he is the man of the people; “Bryson really matured and became more self-aware the last four years.”

“I just don’t understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball; it’s not that hard,” said Brooksie to start a rift between the two golfers. Following Koepka’s remark DeChambeau began to take a defensive stance. Adding fuel to the fire, DeChambeau confronted Koepka’s caddie later that year, telling him that if Koepka had a problem, he should say it directly to his face.
However, things did take a turn when Koepka later clarified his stance stating that he didn’t mean anything personal. “It’s not just him,” said Koepka. Since, then the two stopped bashing one another publicly, and even made a friendly radio appearance together. But…the rival duo couldn’t stay apart from one another for much longer as DeChambeau made fun of Koepka’s physique. Within 24 hours Koepka fired back with a flex of his own, flashing his four major trophies like a mic drop.
It’s a lot to digest for everyone, and even fans are struggling to wrap their heads around this newfound friendship. As one fan cheekily reminded Koepka, “Remember when you had beef with Bryson?”
