Bernhard Langer is the picture of agelessness. Known for his long stint in golf, he credits his success to a dedication to fitness and healthy living. At 67, the Mercedes-Benz ambassador is still grinding—both on the course and in the gym. While his focus has shifted from strength to mobility and stability, Langer’s commitment to fitness remains as strong as ever. When it comes to senior golf, he also has one of the greatest records of all time. Since turning 50, he has won 46 times, which includes twelve senior major titles.
However, despite his disciplined lifestyle, the golfer has a surprising fondness for sweets. During one incident, Langer couldn’t resist indulging in a bite-sized cake topped with a strawberry. It was a rare moment where the health-conscious golfer showed his sweeter side, but well, that is all for the bad habits. The reason for Langer’s fitness lies within Langer’s secrets to staying fit.
While revealing his secret of staying fit as he ages with golf, Bernhard Langer said, “I don’t smoke [at all].” No matter what the situation, he completely stays away from it. Additionally, when it comes to drinking, he solely believes in the statistics of alcohol increasing the risk of having health issues. “I don’t drink alcohol at all,” Langer said. “I drink a little bit, but very, very little.”

On the other hand, John Daly, the bad boy of golf, who has accumulated 21 professional wins, including victories at the 1995 Open Championship and the 1991 PGA Championship, is a great golfer but not the fittest. John Daly has rarely been spotted without a cigarette during golf tournaments. It was as important as his clubs, and not to forget how he would come hungover to play his rounds. That was how much he loved alcohol back then.
Daly started smoking when he was 19 and used to smoke two or two and a half packs a day. He smoked for 29 years. The golf world knows Daly’s love for Diet Coke well, but do they know his hatred for water? Daly drinks 20–22 diet cokes per day but no water, none. “I’d probably outlast a camel when it comes if I have to drink water; I can’t stand water,” said Daly. Exercise made him “throw up.” Although he has now improved his habits, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer which is now cured.
Well, as it turns out, Bernhard Langer’s secret is not only a criticism for just John Daly but also the state of the legendary golfer Tiger Woods.

Bernhard Langer, on the other hand, made the cut at the age of 63 at the 2020 Masters and also defeated Bryson DeChambeau by two strokes while teeing off together. The Scientist was almost three times younger than Langer. While he credited knowing how to play at the Augusta National and relying on his short game, he also had a rather surprising answer to how he still made it look so effortless at such an old age.
