Vu’s victory at the AIG Women’s Open wasn’t just another win, it was a living testament to her dedication to her sport. She sat for a press conference after her victory and mentioned how she took the whole event shot by shot and just played her natural game.

Vu surprisingly also did not look at the leaderboard. She revealed at the conference that she only glanced at the leaderboard around the 16th hole and then again focused on playing her game.

The newly crowned champion expressed her happiness at moving to the World No 1 spot and how she never thought this would be a possibility after her disappointing performance at the US Women’s Open. The triumph not only secured her third victory of the year — including two major wins — but also thrust her into a realm of exceptional distinction.

She now matches Michelle Wie West’s unparalleled achievement of winning the Rolex ANNIKA Major Award as the only other American to do so. She said: “I just really want to thank my team for believing in me and helping me get to this point.”
