However, as his 13-year-old son is growing, hoping to replicate a career like Tiger, let’s take a look at how the golfer instills a competitive mindset in his son Charlie Woods.
The world of golf was left impressed with Woods’ son after his impressive golf skills were displayed in the recent PNC Championship editions. However, Charlie has also been a treat to watch at the US Kids Amateur Golf tournaments.
During one of his outings Amateur outings in Florida in 2020, the young Woods won the nine-hole tournament with a score of 3 under 33. After watching his son strike three birdies without a single bogey, a proud Tiger shared how he passed his wisdom on to his son.

Tiger Woods has adopted the coaching style of his father
While growing up, the 15-time Major winner’s father Earl Woods was his coach and mentor. The Army veteran played a crucial role in developing the golfer’s competition mind. However, now a father himself, Tiger uses the same coaching methods while teaching Charlie the sport of golf.
“He’s starting to get into it”, Woods said to Golf TV after his son’s 2020 win in Florida before adding how Charlie’s interest in the sport is growing much deeper. The Hall of Famer added, “He’s starting to understand how to play. He’s asking me the right questions”. He then talked about the competitive mindset of the Woods family that helps Charlie put on a beautiful display of golf.

Tiger Woods said, “I’ve kept it competitive with his par, so it’s been just an absolute blast to go out there and just, you know, be with him. It reminds me so much of me and my dad growing up”. The fierce attitude of Charlie Woods had been visible during his visit to the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando while competing in the 2022 PNC Championship along with his father.
The 13-year-old had shown many traits similar to his father which also include the passionate fist bump. If Charlie continues to have the same drive for glory as his father, we may soon see the junior Woods on the professional circuit.
