Explaining his condition, he said, “I definitely feel much better, happier on the course, and I’m definitely more looking forward to playing than maybe I was a month or two ago,” He talked to reporters at the London Club in Kent, and explained how he had been doing in his game. He said on the eve of the European Open in 2009, “I haven’t been hitting the ball well. I think it’s been a mix of probably being a little bit down and not really feeling like playing much.”

Those were a few rough months for the pro golfer. During his slump, he ripped Augusta National after the Masters in April 2009 and eventually had to issue a public apology. Garcia was pessimistic during The Players Championship when defending his title. However, the former European tour member acknowledged that golf was not enjoyable for him post-breakup despite his excellent play.

He also missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship after finishing tied for 31st at Doral the week after the breakup. Eventually, he downplayed his performance at the Players Championship and landed at the 22nd position.

During the Players Championship, he explained his pain and said, “I still love golf, but it has been resisting me more than usual.” The Spanish golfer confessed that he wasn’t himself after the breakup.
