The PGA Tour has been on high alert amid the ongoing speculations of Tony Finau making the switch to Greg Norman’s LIV Golf. His withdrawal from the 2024 Hero World Challenge & then the Grant Thornton Invitational has rung many alarm bells in the American league’s headquarters.

Jay Monahan & co. will be keeping a close eye on what happens before the LIV Golf season begins in February 2025. But if they pay too much attention to Finau’s movements then other top PGA Tour pros might get the opportunity to also make the switch from right under their noses.

Whom are we talking about? Let’s take a look at 5 other professional golfers who will be attractive prospects for Greg Norman & LIV Golf.

Viktor Hovland

When reports of Viktor Hovland‘s withdrawal from the 2024 Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods were circulating, many had speculated that the Norwegian pro would be heading to LIV Golf. After all, that is exactly what John Rahm did back in 2023. Besides, the Viking has not been played a PGA Tour event since the Tour Championship back in September 2024. Back in July, he was quoted saying that Greg Norman & co. are “throwing away a lot of money.” To add fuel to the rumors, Hovland also had a controversial interview at the beginning of December. Speaking to The Times, the Resort King said if the people at LIV Golf “Claim to be representing our best interests meet with the people involved.” While it seemed that Hovland was clearly frustrated with the entire process, he didn’t deny the fact that he might be interested in such a prospect. Moreover, reports of the 27-year-old’s injuries are still a mystery as he has had a prolonged absence, but it has not been clear why he has been on a sabbatical apart from the vague injury claims.

Will Tony Finau's potential move to LIV Golf trigger a mass exodus from the PGA Tour?

Jorge Campillo

The 38-year-old from Spain has attracted a lot of attention thanks to his recent performances. Jorge Campillo had 3 top-10 finishes in 2024 with his best performance coming at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters where he finished 2nd. While he may not have captured any tournament victories, the Spaniard has slowly been rising through the ranks as he is at 103 on the OWGR leaderboard. Moreover, fellow Spanish pros & LIV Golf captains, Sergio Garcia & John Rahm are missing a player in their respective teams for the 2025 season. It won’t come as a surprise if either of them decides to bring in one of their countrymen to be a part of their squad. There’s no doubt that Campillo will bring in a lot of experience and great form to any team that decides to sign him for the 2025 season.

Alistair Docherty

After nearly capturing the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic back in May, Alistair Docherty had disappeared from the scene. That is until he made an appearance at the PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. By the end of the 3rd round of the event, it seemed that the world no. 230 would be getting his PGA Tour membership card. However, things didn’t turn out the way he had expected as he missed out on qualification by just one point. That has been the story of the 30-year-old as he has always been on the brink of success, but not being able to achieve it. He has played in the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamerica, and the Korn Ferry Tour. Yet, he has always been the ‘nearly’ man, not being able to capture a single victory to his name. So it won’t come as a surprise if the heartbroken Canadian pro decides to look for a fresh start in Saudi Arabia by joining LIV Golf.

Hideki Matsuyama

Hideki Matsuyama has been a star player in the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. The 2021 Masters Tournament winner has had a great season where he captured 2 out of his 10 PGA Tour victories. His final round performance at The Genesis Invitational 2024 where he scored a 9-under 62 showcased his calibre to perform at big stages perfectly. He has also had a total of 7 top-10 finishes throughout 2024. Greg Norman & LIV Golf will definitely be interested in bringing in the world no. 7, even if they have to create a new team for him to captain. Speaking to GolfDigest, Norman has previously stated that he would love to have Matsuyama onboard so that he can plan a LIV Golf event in Japan. Perhaps, having more time to spend with his wife and young child will also interest Hideki Matsuyama to consider the option, besides the millions of dollars he would probably be offered of course.

Shaun Norris

The winner of the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Championship, Shaun Norris has been in great form in 2024. Out of the 9 DP World Tour events he has played, he has finished in the top 6 twice. Having been in the European circuit for about 22 years, the South African national has more than one reason to make the switch. Firstly, even though he has been an overall great player, he has still only had 2 career wins. Capturing his second win at the end of 2024, he would be looking to carry forward his form in Greg Norman’s LIV Golf. Secondly, if Norris does choose to jump ship, he will attract attention from Stinger GC, a team of South African players led by Louis Oosthuizen. Lastly, he is 42 years old, which could be one of the major reasons he might consider the option. Having stayed loyal to the European circuit without much financial gain to show for it, a contract from LIV Golf will be very attractive for Norris. It’s definitely a great career option as he moves to the twilight years of his career.

Any of these players could be in the news for moving to Greg Norman’s LIV Golf before February 2025. Perhaps, we might also see some other pros (read ‘Rory McIlroy‘) who have been offered contracts worth absurd amounts of money (read ‘nearly a billion dollars’) to come join Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and others. Only time will tell. All we can say is that Jay Monahan & co. need to be on high alert and ready to take action if any such rumors start spreading.
