As many gear up to play the last championship on the PGA Tour Regular Season, many others will be working hard to show off their superiority in technique and style at the FedEx Cup playoffs. Jason Day would be aiming for the Cup as well since he is currently in 11th place in the FedEx rankings. His close miss in the Open Championship last month where he finished T2 has not dampened his enthusiasm and confidence as he recently opened up about his dream and his inspiration to win the Cup for his country and his family.

The former world No. 1 expressed his desire to become the first Australian to win the FedEx Cup. He went on to say, “It’d be a nice milestone before our family grows again in September.” Day said that his inspiration came from expecting the birth of his fifth child with his wife Ellie since the baby is due after the playoffs. The soon-to-be-father wants to present his newborn with the best possible gift he can get.

Hoping to end the curse for Australians in the FedEx Cup race, the 35-year-old pro golfer has been working hard with his swing coach Chris Como to make sure he pulls off a stellar performance in the upcoming playoffs. He is hoping to come out big this time no two ways about it.

Day’s previous attempts at the FedEx Cup

Jason Day had a bumpy decade of sorts starting off well in 2010 when he finished 8th in the FedEx rankings to falling into a slump after 2017. He has had close run-ins with the top spot in 2014 (10th), in 2015 (3rd) and in 2016 (6th). The Aussie would be trying to replicate his 2015 performance as he had gone on to win two playoff events including The Barclays where he scored 261 (-19) and the BMW Championship where he finished with 22-under-par 262.

While the other Australians, including Cameron Davis, Adam Scott, and Aaron Baddeley, have plenty of work to do to advance to the playoffs, Day would be looking to better his play in the remaining time left for the Cup.
