We all tend to judge — too quiet, and you’re a robot; too confident, and you’re labeled as arrogant. Brooks Koepka has certainly felt the heat from the latter. Everybody saw him as the quiet, reserved guy when he first burst onto the scene with a major win at Erin Hills. Fast forward to his incredible stretch of victories in 2023. Now, everyone calls him brash and arrogant. It’s natural, right? Talk about the best sports team that wins every year. Everyone hates them!

One comment about practicing only for the majors sparked controversy, with Koepka saying, “I just practice before the majors. Regular tournaments, I don’t practice.” While it may have come off as arrogant, his wife, Jena Sims, is stepping in to clear the air and set the record straight.

Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims are parents! The couple, who married in June 2022, welcomed a son, Crew Sims Koepka, on July 27, 2023. Almost two years later, when Jena Sims was doing a Q&A round with her fans, she received a weird question. She posted it as a story on her official Instagram account.

She replied, “He is the absolute best. He does it all (when he’s home) he’s been thrown up on, he brushes teeth, sucks snot, comes to toddler classes… u name it he’s always wanted to be a dad”. Now, we know his lighter side! He is just a parent like most dads out there.

“I can’t put my finger on it,” he admitted, “but when it all comes together, you realize what works, and you stick with it.” It’s a great way to deal with your naysayers.

Koepka also confessed that his primary focus will always be playing his best golf. “The only thing I care about is playing good golf… Everything else is an afterthought,” he said, acknowledging how this mindset has sometimes affected his personal relationships. “Every great athlete struggles with that—compared to a normal person,” he added. “It makes it hard to have friends or dating or family.”

As he has become more comfortable with himself, Koepka finds it easier to avoid distractions. “I don’t have the relationships I would want, but I want to be the best golfer I can be,” he said. “So for another 10 years, it’s just going to be what it is, and that’s the sacrifice you make when you’re on the extreme end of the mental side.”
