The fifteenth edition of the Ladies European Tour’s event premiered at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon on the 19th of October and will go on till the 22nd of October. The prestigious event has a prize purse of over $4 million. Beating all odds, Madelene Stavnar made a place for herself at the top of the pyramid during the first round of the event today.

The Indian crowd had not expected Stavnar to even be on the list of the top ten players of the event. But her hard work and mental calmness on game day proved everyone wrong. One’s mental and physical skills play a major role in winning the title, and so far, that has been the case for Stavnar.

The Norwegian golfer could not contain her happiness after the first day’s results. Madelene Stavnar smiled and said, “I’m very happy. It’s one of those days where golf feels a little bit easier than others. This course is not easy, so a 66 will do very nicely to begin with.”

Stavnar set a benchmark by scoring a 66 in the opening round. It surely makes sense why the talented professional golfer could not contain her happiness. Even though she chose to remain humble and call it a lucky day, it was her hard work that got her here. Only time will tell what’s next on the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
