Money and things lost can always be earned back, but the same can’t be said about life. While many lost their lives in the catastrophe of Hurricane Helene, John Daly was one of those fortunate enough to come out safe and sound. Well, somewhat. He lost his fan-favorite million-dollar mansion. It has been around a week since the incident, and the 58-year-old golfer has been updating his fans regarding it.
Now, as per the news, a tropical storm named Milton may reach the strength of a hurricane, hitting Central Florida by the middle of this week. Following this, an alert was declared in 35 countries. Proving the forecast right, the tragedy has once again hit many. Sharing a story on his Instagram handle about the same, Daly posted, “Here we go again,” featuring a photo of a weather forecast channel.
Talking about the loss he endured in Hurricane Helene, he wrote, “My family is all safe, but all our homes are not!” Despite the house costing him $1.4 million, the financial loss, though significant, seems secondary at the moment. Empathizing with all who confronted this destruction, John Daly stated, “Sending prayers for all of us who have family, friends & neighbors that is threatened today by I cannot believe this is happening again. Everyone, please be safe. “

Post Hurricane Helene’s destruction, Daly spoke with PGA Tour.com and expressed his heartfelt emotions; “I’m just glad everyone is healthy, that’s the main thing. You live in Florida, you have to understand that’s going to happen, but not like this. I didn’t think it would be this bad. I hope everyone gets safe and gets their homes back. My heart just goes out to everybody.”
While John Daly’s words offered a sense of relief, the conditions prevailing in Florida are nothing less than a sight of horror. Hope alone doesn’t seem enough now as another menacing storm looms on the horizon.

The current state of Hurricane Milton
As per the BBC update, Hurricane Milton has arrived as a category five storm, with warnings of extreme winds and flash flooding. Saving their lives, millions have fled the state after witnessing the horrors of the situation. One of the officers working at the site of the damage claimed, “It’s devastating. No words can describe it.”, as per a report by DW.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Florida ever truly recover from back-to-back hurricanes, or is this the new normal?
Have an interesting take?
Though the alerts were made earlier, no one was ready for such extreme conditions. The situation is completely out of hand, as the county commissioner noted that experts can predict where hurricanes will make landfall but can’t predict where a tornado will strike.

The destruction caused by this hurricane has claimed 16 lives, and there are chances that this number may increase as rescue workers make their way through floodwaters and debris. As families mourn their losses, those who have somehow survived this tragedy face immense suffering. In addition to this devastation, over 2 million homes and businesses are without power, and thousands have been rescued from flooded areas.
Just as the residents were beginning to assess the damage, another horrifying news emerged that more floods were likely in the coming days. Imagining oneself in such a situation is frightening in itself. Though we can’t be there in support of those stuck in the area, we can all pray and hope to get things better as soon as possible.
