“Time off allows for some testing or potential change,” said Rickie Fowler back in October. He was coming off after a long hiatus. Fowler’s bag went through multiple shake-ups: a new driver, a new putter, and a new iron. What remained constant, though, was the TaylorMade TP5X.
Again in December, Fowler was seen with a new club. This time, a Cobra DS Adapt X-driver. Then too, the only thing that remained unchanged was his TP5X. Fowler likes to honor commitments. He didn’t break away from the deal he inked with TaylorMade in 2018-19. For the past five years, the former PLAYERS Champion teed off with a TaylorMade golf ball.
At the time when their deal signing news broke, the 36-year-old had noted, “The TP5x is still very strong in the wind; it launches a touch higher, it spins a touch less. It still flies how I want it to through the wind. Like I said, I don’t feel like I’m giving up in any areas. I feel like I’m able to spin the ball a little bit more around the greens, and then getting that little extra yardage. That could be definitely beneficial when you look at… a few yards with the driver, and then getting a little extra with the irons coming into a green, I could be hitting a club less.”

However, after their deal ended in 2024, TaylorMade and Fowler have reportedly cut ties, as per Golfweek. On January 12, Adam Schupak reported, “[Rickie Fowler] also made a significant equipment change, transitioning from playing TaylorMade’s TP5x ball with his endorsement contract expiring to being a free agent in the category and choosing to start the year with the 2023 Pro V1.”
Golf Digest’s Jonathan Wall also confirmed the rumors the next day after speaking with a TaylorMade official. “Just confirmed with TaylorMade that Rickie Fowler’s golf ball-only deal is no more. Will be a free agent on the ball side for ‘25,” he tweeted.
Though Fowler is still not getting paid by Titleist, he mentioned, “Everyone makes great product these days and I felt like there were multiple options I could go play from different manufacturers.”

Having said that, Fowler wanted to remain a free agent and experiment as he said there were a handful of equipment brands he wanted to try. As of now, he has resorted to his old friend, Titleist ProV1. Rickie Fowler has reportedly been playing with a ProV1 since he was a ten-year-old junior golfer. Nevertheless, it’s time for a change in Fowler’s life. Along with equipment, the six-time PGA Tour winner has also changed his sponsors.

You won’t see Grant Thornton’s logo on Fowler’s chest anymore. “I had an amazing run with Grant Thornton and left on good terms,” Rickie Fowler was quoted by Golfweek. That’s now replaced with–in case you haven’t noticed during TGL’s season-opener–by Ernst & Young.
EY wanted to foray into the Golf, and Fowler appeared to be the best fit for the brand. Grant Thornton also worked in the finance, tax, and accounting space. Ernst & Young previously partnered with the European Ryder Cup team in 2012 and 2014.
It should be noted that Rickie Fowler’s contract with Rocket Mortgage and Farmers Insurance was also up for renewal last year. But the six-time PGA Tour winner said there had been a leadership change at the Farmers Insurance, and the American insurance company wasn’t looking to renew it. It is believed that Fowler is no longer attached to the California-HQ insurance company.

Similarly, there were reports that the Rocket Mortgage would follow suit. However, in May, Rocket Mortgage renewed its partnership with Fowler. In another instance of a change, the six-time PGA Tour winner parted ways with Mercedes last year. Rickie Fowler is yet to tee off in the PGA Tour this year. But when he does, he will do so with a new logo on his chest.
