The golf world’s two favorites Tiger Woods and John Daly are at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club for the 66th PNC Championship. With their dynamic, one sure would not expect any of them to crack a joke, but hey Daly did, and it sure was funny.
On December 21, the PNC Championship dropped a hilarious video featuring Woods and the ‘bad boy’ John Daly. Daly’s witty remark left the 84-time PGA Tour winner laughing uncontrollably. The video showed Woods spending quality time with fans when he spotted Daly and said, “I’ll meet you at the gym,” in a sarcastic tone. Now, we all know how much of a gym freak John Daly is (pun intended).
Daly has never been to the gym. The secret to him hitting long shots is “A big belly, a big turn, and just come down hard”. On an episode of the ‘Full Send Podcast’, he joked about how the host needed to “get some mashed potatoes” in his diet. However, when one of the hosts said he was hitting the gym, Daly pointed out and said, “Gym? Now here’s the problem.”

Daly, being the funny and witty personality he is, replied, “At least gym is a better three-letter word. Yours is G-Y-M, mine is B-A-R!” continuing greeting Woods with a hug. His favorite bar? Hooters!
The comment left everyone laughing out loud. Daly is known for his loving relationship with alcohol. He once claimed that he could drink 40 beers at once. He then said he would start drinking whiskey after the beer. You see he “wouldn’t sober up until the 13th hole.”

This duo has developed a complicated yet intriguing bond over the years. Why complicated? Well, the two have previously been seen making negative comments about each other. One such case occurred during the 2019 PGA Championship when Woods remarked at Daly, who was suffering from arthritis and diabetes at the time. The Tour allowed Long John to utilize a golf cart to go around the course, which was not normally permitted.
Woods said, “As far as J.D. taking a cart, well, I walked with a broken leg, so…,” referring to his win at the 2008 US Open with a broken leg. To this, the 2x major winner replied later, “Yeah, but he didn’t know the facts because the media, ‘the media’ didn’t tell him I had diabetes and I had a bad two knees and my hips out and all this stuff. He apologized to me at dinner the other night. I mean, he’s fine. I love Tiger”
Let us see how the golf world reacted to this hysterical interaction.

Fans couldn’t keep it together as John Daly threw another joke!
One user said, “Tiger got drunk off JD’s breath ❤️️,” reacting to how Woods couldn’t control his laughter. Another fan praised Daly, saying, “John’s gotta be one of the most authentic dudes out there.” And we couldn’t agree more. Following so many beers with whiskey would sure make your breath alcoholic. Coming to authenticity, Daly truly speaks his mind, and is known for his larger-than-life persona.
Daly’s unapologetic honesty has always been refreshing. In an ESPN interview, he shared, “I could drink, probably a case to 35 beers a day, or 40… Easily, yeah.” A fan referenced this in the comments, saying, “There’s Tiger’s Gym Beam, and then there’s Daly’s Jim Beam…” Another user wrote, “The greatest dudes to ever grip it and rip it on God’s green earth.” Woods is known for his dedication to fitness. His exercise routine comprises stretching, core strengthening, cardio, and weight sessions. He begins with a 40-minute stretching session to improve the motion range of his joints and also promote blood flow during exercise.

Interestingly, the post also reflected how much the fans wait for John Daly to make such comments as they wrote, “Babe, wake up a new John Daly quote just dropped.” Well, they did not stop praising the legend here; the comment section got flooded with reactions like “GOAT vs. GOAT” and “The best of both worlds.” If this isn’t true, we don’t know what is!
Indeed, Woods is known for his disciplined approach, while Daly is famous for his unconventional style. Daly duo won the PNC Championship in 2021, and Team Woods that year was a runner-up. Last year too, Team Daly scored 19 under par while Team Woods matched the score, taking home $47,000. But with Charlie’s improved performance and increased ball speed to 176 miles per hour it would be interesting to see who wins this year.
