Let’s back up to the PNC Championship in December. John Daly played with his son and finished second after Vijay Singh and his son. He told reporters, “I’m getting my knee replacement done Wednesday, full knee replacement. So I’ll be out for a while.” But now, looking at him, we can conclude that he did not mean to take a break from the fun. Big John was talking about professional competitions.

Fans thought the Claret Jug winner would need time off after his knee replacement surgery. Does he need to take good rest due to the cold? Not at all. The pro golfer is a peak athlete posing for photos at San Jose Country Club. Not to mention, the Hair of the Dawg Golf Classic is the place where the participants of the event raise money for the Heart of a Lion foundation. So even though he had surgery, it could not stop him from stepping out and having fun.

The ‘bad boy’ of golf, John Daly, is back!

It wasn’t even a week after John Daly had his knee surgery, and we could see him having fun. He spent Monday entertaining fans and his Hooters Girls at his favorite Jacksonville golf event. A knee surgery could not keep the PGA Champion from the 19th hole. You thought that the pro golfer would sit around and watch Purdue get defeated in the Citrus Bowl? Then your assumptions were proved wrong by the legend himself. However, remember that from the 19th hole, Daly can watch Purdue lose and talk to his Hooters Girls simultaneously.

However, you might be wondering how Daly managed to play at the PNC. He answered your question in the interview with Golf.com. When asked about using a cart during the PNC Championship, he said he was not embarrassed. He wants to walk rather than play golf. However, using a cart was a disadvantage, and he could have done better in his game. He said, “I’m not embarrassed to take a cart. It’s not helping my golf game by any means. I would rather walk and play golf because then you have time to settle down on a good hole or a bad hole, and you’re walking instead of just getting in the cart and going up and hitting the shot.”

It might have left you wondering how Daly could walk again and attend the Hooters event so soon. According to the experts of the National Institutes of Health research, in most cases, after a complete knee replacement surgery, the patients can play golf “at an average of 5.3 3.1 months post-surgery.”

However, patients who could RTP had an average postoperative KOOS of 74.6 12.5 versus 64.4 9.5 for those who could not (P 0.05). The knee discomfort while golfing decreased suddenly from 6.4 2.1 to 1.8 2.2 (P 0.01). There were no appreciable differences in pain, performance, or stability between the CR and PS patients.

In short, Daly will soon hold his driver again in no time.
