The day of awarding the green jacket in 2025 is near. The tradition, which began in 1949, is still one of the most prestigious achievements in a golfer’s career. Though only 54 golfers have etched their names in history, Scottie Scheffler is among the 14 golfers who have won it twice or more. Despite having achieved the feat earlier, he still was high on nerves with his second title, too. And even after a year, Scheffler still has fresh memories of it.

So, before walking on the Augusta National, the World No. 1 shared his memories from the past. Recently, the Masters’ official YouTube channel posted a video with the title, “Every Hole at Augusta National with Scottie Scheffler.” But it was the section where the World No. 1 was seen wearing the green jacket and expressing his memories that left the world in awe. After winning the event, the ceremony is the only place which lets the fans witness the great players in the jacket, but now with his reappearance in that, the fans are enjoying the moment.

In the video, the golfer shared how his shot last year at Hole-2, Par-5 was filled with struggles. He also shared how he strategically places the pin on the left side to keep a slightly straight angle for him. However, on the second hole, he faced the unexpected, as the ball went way farther than the expected trajectory. The video showcased how his approach shot ended up between the spectators instead of on the green prompting one commenter to say, “Mistake we don’t normally see Scottie Scheffler make.” He was joined by another chiming in humorously, “Knock the patron off their chairs.”

Despite that, the golfer managed to make the par save, which left him satisfied as he relived the moment in the video. He said, “There’s certain holes where you just got to take your medicine and try and make par because par is a really good score.” After the first two rounds, which recorded birdies in hole 2, the golfer struggled in the latter two. However, he managed to save par in the last two rounds. His score after the four rounds was a mix of under par and sub par.

A look back to Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 Masters

Scheffler, before the Masters began last year, had already secured two victories along with three top-5 and two top-10 finishes. The world expected him to be on the top of the world with confidence. Well, the confidence and great form did follow him in the first round as he carded 6 birdies to score 66. Even in the second round, for the first four holes, it seemed like he was invincible.

But the bogeys from the 5th hole made all the difference for him. As he carded three bogeys and three birdies for the par finish in the second round, the momentum of the first round saw a drop in the second, which further continued in the third. On Saturday, Scheffler added four birdies and an eagle. However, his score for the round was just shy of par. All credits to three bogeys and one double bogey on the 10th hole.

Can Scottie Scheffler's mental toughness carry him to another green jacket despite recent form struggles?

Have an interesting take?

With the performance ups and downs, he wasn’t in the clear contention for the leaderboard, leaving him with frayed nerves. In the final round, his shots went way off the ropes on hole 3, but the golfer, with the help of his caddie, mounted a solid comeback. Despite having three bogeys, he scored seven birdies in that round, which helped him score 68 in the final round and win his second green jacket.

His performance last year despite the struggle was a proof of his strong mentality, which ultimately turned the tide in his favor. However, for this season, he hasn’t had the confident start he would have liked. Until now, his best finish has been a T3 at the Genesis Invitational. Can he repeat the feat at Masters despite the form struggles? What are your thoughts? Share with us in the comments below!
