Both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have witnessed a significant decline in viewership in the 2024 season, with the latter struggling to draw a meaningful audience. The PGA Tour, which was once the gold standard of golf, has seen a worrying drop in ratings; take the 2024 Masters for example. The major saw a 20% decline for its final round, and as for LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed league’s latest ratings report reveals a concerning decline in viewership, with a 24% drop in audience numbers from its season opener in Mexico to its second event in Tucson, Arizona. This event could help in increasing the viewership once again, and make fans interested in watching it on TV.
